Can you imagine how nostalgic this will be in 50 years time. It is good to record this. I'll be long gone in 50 years but those who will be around will view this video with great delight I think.

Tejas Those refurbishments are to accomodate the arrival of Sydney Metro, which is Australia’s first answer to rapid-transit subway rail networks already used in other countries, such as the USA’s MTA New York City Subway, UK’s London Underground, and several subway networks in Asia.

Hi Phil, thanks for sharing another excellent video. Incidentally, I have often wondered why the light rail trams run in reverse at Central to the original trams that were there prior to their closure in 1957. I am guessing that it may be because the traffic was reversed in Castlereagh and Pitt Streets, back in the late 1950's. However, I am not sure if that is the reason or not. Anyway, take care. Robert.
@StowNova9 жыл бұрын
That was 40 minutes of my life spent totally enthralled, but why?.. Sure it is a very well made video, Phil's commentary is excellent, I learned a little bit more about Sydney trains. But if I had to stand around Central waiting for a train for 40 minutes, I'd be wanting to tear my hair out.

Haha thanks mate. Im just extremely patient.
@nicholetheotter19575 жыл бұрын
StowNova Phil is usually patient. Most people wouldn’t dare standing at a station for hours, but for Phil, he enjoys it and seeing what trains come through.

That amusement at the end where Phil films way too many Waratahs. I do agree with you, Phil. Waratahs are not bad trains, but it does get annoying when trainspotting enthusiasts like yourself have to deal with like, 10 of them in a row, or even worse when they block out your view of another, cooler sight.

I noticed this was filmed during that transition to the new doors on the Tangaras, since you could see some with the original doors and then some with the new "M set style" lightweight plug doors on Platforms 24-25.

I prefer terminus stations that are through stations it works so much better, like how QR does it, you get a train right underneath the city, then the station after is the big hub station, with the long distance trains terminating, cause you don't want them to keep going they gone far enough, but all the suburban trains go through the city and keep going, it saves quite a lot of trains and makes the train lines a lot neater and you don't get a situation like in London where you have many many city terminus hubs and that's probably a similar situation for a lot of country's and cities but allowing trains to have a option other than terminate make things a little easier, although it wasn't always like that, it used to be a terminus hub, it was Roma street station and you'd loop around trough the Ekka to get to Shorncliffe but latter on they built the line through to Bowen hills where they linked up and then that's where you get our line from, there was another station Normanby
@thestargateking9 жыл бұрын
But that got replaced by the busway, eventually

hi once I was on a gset tangara they are very different to a normal suburban tangara I was on car od6985 it was awesome better than a normal suburban tangara
@nicholetheotter19576 жыл бұрын
james vitnell G set Tangaras were originally made for Outer-Suburban services, and had a couple of differences from T sets, such as a luggage rack in the vestibule area, reversible seats with a vinyl headrest, green buttons next to the doors, and the front has an inwards dip on the bottom. They were converted to regular T sets following the introduction of the Oscar H sets, but still kept most of their G set features intact.
@nicholetheotter19575 жыл бұрын
james vitnell Also, that car number was an OSCAR H set, not a ex-G set Tangara. The G set car numbers went from OD6801-OD6841, ON5801-ON5820 and ONL5851-ONL05870. After the G to T set conversion, the carriages were changed to just have a D or N prefix while still keeping the numbers.

Why do they still refer to the Newcastle service if the tracks have been removed from Newcastle? Is there still a night (sleeper) train to Brisbane or only the daytime XPT?
@sydneytrainsvlogs9 жыл бұрын
Its pretty much a Newcastle service due to buses that connect with the train at Hamilton. There are 3 North Bound XPT's a day. The morning XPT to Casino. The early afternoon XPT to Grafton. The afternoon XPT (overnighter) to Brisbane.
@nicholetheotter19575 жыл бұрын
don town That Brisbane XPT takes a little over 24 hours to complete the trip to Roma Street (Brisbane terminus), as it reaches there just before 04:00.
