People often talk about the miracle on grass (brisbane-geelong 2013) but this was just about the same margin with even less time to go. Insane stuff

I had heard about this game and this comeback before. What I didn't know is that the margin was still 42 points with just over 9 minutes left. 😳 How is it even possible to win from there? 😳

I was therer. It was heartbreaking. The silence in the stands was awful. The worst thing I've ever experienced in football (apart from Fitzroy's last home match).

Biggest comeback I've seen although I also saw a game that's on video "1986 Escort Cup Glenelg 12.7.79 d Sturt 11.12.78" where Glenelg in the SANFL came back from 59 points down at 3 quarter time and kicked 10 goals in the last quarter (last one after the final siren) and won by a point.

@MU FC The name of the sport is "Australian Rules Football" and has the highest crowds per capita for any sport (or so is my recollection of a Trivial Pursuit question from many years ago). Calling the sport the "AFL" would be like referring to the sport of soccer as "the Premier League". The popularity of either sport is has very limited relevance (if any) to a discussion on comebacks.

For the 1990's this was a remarkable comeback, most sides wouldn't thrown in the towel.👍🏻😊

Weak as piss defence from the Swans there, what was Derek Kickett doing back there?

lol @ 22:17 those old ducks were giving plugger grief all day. nearly copped it

Lockett must've hated the Swans back then. Little did people know that just a few months later,Lockett would sign for Sydney for 1995

The irony of this match of match is that after this remarkable comeback, St.Kilda lost the next week. 😯

The other irony is that the following year we got Plugger up to Sydney, lol.

@collingwoodrules if you mean Peter Caven indeed it was, there are videos of it on youtube

Surely the swans can't loose it... I had to see it with my own eyes, both the downfall of Sydney and that of Caven's nose too. All of us Sydney supporters were weeping on the stands.

Tony Lockett: 20 possessions, 12 marks, 11 goals. Wayne Thornborrow's debut

The greatest comeback of all time. 47 points down with 16 minutes left easily trumps 69 points down with 55 minutes left (Essendon vs north, 2001).
