This was amazing to watch a year ago and still fantastic to watch again. Much respect to Angela and the production team for producing this to share!

This 13 minute video taught me a lot of techniques rather than the 1hr ones available online.

The final touch - the stretching after painting, and that tip with the window glass - it quite a revelation to me. I always see people recomending stretching as a first step ( which I've tried and done, without getting the point of it because I'd get buckled paper anyway). Beautiful process to watch. Amazing technique and precision. Hats off! ❤

Biological and medical illustration will always supercede photography with its exquisite sensitivity and detail...art meets science. That particular specimen of a Norfolk Island Pine is exquisite. If you're ever in San Francisco's Castro district there is a noble Norfolk within view of the Castro Muni Station if you're curious to see one in person

I am totally floored in the amount of details involved. I’m also impressed with the artistry of constructing a botanical illustration - researching, detailed pencil sketch and painting in watercolor using dry brushing techniques. As mentioned in one of the comments, so much is said on how to do a botanical illustration in 13 minutes than taking an hour long class.

How can 4 people left a thumbs down on this ??? .. it's incredible .. that's what it is ..wow

Sadly, many people don’t realise they are doing it. When a ‘suggested’ video pops up in their feed, they tap Not Interested, are asked Why, and tap I Don’t Like The Video, which then applies a thumbs down. They do it thinking it will filter away similar videos, or those on the same topic, from their feed. It’s only a couple/three years since YT took away the Topic options, and this is the result - unwarranted thumbs down ☹️

Thank you for producing such a beautiful video. Art of this type is of the highest order and as a photographer, I am moved to witness the level of attention to detail and skill applied to creating such a work. It is very special to stand before artworks like these and now to have some insight into what goes into making them, I will have a deeper appreciation. Many thanks! David

I believe the way an artist paints really mirrors that artist's personality, I applaud this lady who has such a diligent and an elegant way of working, that sort of art requires considerable amount of patience and as someone who loves to paint with the moment rather than taking long times to plan out my piece I'm thoroughly impressed. I thrive to be more diligent the way I work and this has inspired me to work for that goal even more.
@onthehill33815 жыл бұрын
That is a very nice comment. I am a botanical illustrator and paint in a very detailed way. I have received comments over the years that I should “loosen up”. as if this style of painting is somehow undesirable. Every one has their own style and what is tight for them.

I think your work is exceptional and this video truly inspirational. I am also a botanical artist, but not in your league. I was in Sydney for a few days earlier this year and spent some time in the Royal Botanic Gardens. I may even have seen the very Norfolk Pine from which you collected your specimen. I wish I could have seen your work in person rather than mediated by video. Perhaps next time. Thank you so much for making and posting this video.

Erin the great thing about human beings, in this case, our eyes is: the human eye is still far superior to a camera lens. We are also able to view a flower from many angles, while painting it and thus we can bring everything into focus at once. Which a camera cannot yet do...not even the best of them!
