It’s hard to believe that such a simple, lyrically sparse song can bring me to tears, thinking of loved ones I’ve lost, while also giving me the hope and strength to face another day. This may be the most perfect song, and this may be the most perfect performance of it. He even reminds me of the power of gratitude, when he thanks the other musicians near the end. To borrow a couple lines, this song is everything I came for and it gets me right down to my soul.

@@halasfil "Regarding the meaning of this life-affirming song, Cave told The Sun: "We all have this feeling of the world folding in on us. Whether it's environmental, the economy, nuclear or whatever, I don't think there's anyone on the planet who's walking around thinking things are okay. "So to me, there's this idea that we need to carry on and do what we do. The song is optimistic in that respect. Of course it's impossible to push the sky away but we need to try."

Yes Ben - imagine the rest of the performance that night, all the other arrangements they performed... being enveloped in all that emotion, right there. That’s love.♥️

I must watch this about thee time every week and it's just a magical as the day I first came across it. I love the way Warren stops playing to applaud the orchestra, the joy on the conductor's face and the reaction of the crowd to the choir. A lot of love in that room x

This version is even more powerful and epic...It's so amazing what an artist can make with so much sorrow inside...I've been pushing the sky away for 8 years and when I listen to this song I feel some kind of perfection even in my troubled soul...thank you Nick and all the people in the Opera House!

I only recently started to explore more of Nick Cave's music, but this is the best version I've heard so far; wish I could buy a high quality version of it. This version holds the most catharsis and connects to me the most.

Nick’s birthdate= 9/22/22 (8) in numerology (after adding the digits up). That’s some powerful f’n energy right there. He’s been through it and transmuted his pain into the most incredible music for the rest of us to heal with. ❤

It uniquely expresses the pain of a parent who loses their child, as in this terrible train accident in Greece, which was full of young people.
