Those new Sydney Metro announcements almost brought back the "Stand clear, doors closing" warning from CityRail in the early 2000s!

I do like this new map and it is faster and smoother for me. I love the new design and voice but I do think it can be improved. I think it will work a lot better when the new metro station open up!

Has the Metro really been operating for 5 years? Time flies! I did Chatswood to Tallawong on our visit to Sydney from Port Macquarie early in its history and found it noisy and draughty, but I guess it's settled down as a real asset to Sydney. Can't wait to return when the city bit opens. We need help getting around the city these days and I appreciate the trams so I'm sure we will enjoy another form of travel.

I like it! But I think it should say what side the doors will open a little later, like right after the final ‘the next station is…’ but not just before the doors open. But overall the update is great!

Some trains still have the old announcements for the time being, the trains with the new announcements must have been tested between Chatswood and Sydenham section

I've always called the on board information systems something different to PID - i've always referred to PID as Platform Information Display. Been calling it VPIS (Visual Passenger Information System) on the Millennium, Hunter Railcar and OSCar, TTIS (Train Travel Information System) on the Waratahs and on the Metro [LED screens], and DRMD (Dynamic Route Map Display) on the Metro [LCD screens].

The new announcements and format looks a lot better on the Metropolis sets than the previous announcements and format. At least the new announcements says the next stop just after the Metropolis set leaves the previous stop, unlike the other announcement where it only says the next stop as soon as the Metropolis set is arriving into that stop It definitely makes sense to us Taylor Owynns voice on the Metropolis sets seemingly we always hear it on the Waratahs, some Oscar's, Citadis X05's, Urbos 100's, some buses and maybe ferries

@@sydneytrainsvlogs well, MTS is 60% owned by MTR Corporation, 20% by UGL rail and 20% by John Holland Group. This probably explains why the onboard door opening and closing sounds are identical to those on the Hong Kong MTR.

New Metro infrastructure, huh. Noticed the variation in the Destination board, more stops added, not whole route at once. I probably need to turn my sound on and see what I can hear. I forgot to turn on subtitles looked like you had on this. Will come and look again. Thanks.

Nice cool update, I haven’t had the chance to ride a metro yet. I do hope the Hunter sets get PID’s updates like the Oscars have . It’s very hard to read the current ones due to them being burn’t out or displaying odd characters

It sounded exactly the same as Hong Kong MTR before, now it’s different 🤣 but the Sirens are still the same for doors opening/ closing and script of “doors will open on the xxx”. Guess it’s now made more familiar for Sydneysiders

Nice ! Video quality is top-notch as always. The trains look great. The announcements sound nice in both versions, but it seemed like the new ones are better heard over the noise than the old ones. Maybe it's due to the way it was filmed. Was it also the case for you? I've taken an interest in Sydney Metro, following from Europe, but I must say that I'm a bit baffled by the ridership numbers shown on the Sydney Metro wiki page. Are they correct? It says that there was an average of roughly 55,000 passengers per day on the section already open during the 2022-2023 season. This is similar to the daily ridership expected on the slightly over 3 kilometers of new stretch of circular tramway line T3b that opens today in Paris and to which I'm about to go to attend its inauguration. How come a 13 station and 36km long stretch of shiny new high capacity automated metro has the same ridership as a 7 station, 3.2km section of tramway line? Not even taking into account that the ridership forecasts in Paris are always grossly underestimated, leading to serious saturation, but that's another issue. So, I don't really know what to think : Is there an error, and if so, what is the daily ridership of the initial section of the Metro North West line? If the numbers are correct, what's causing such a low ridership? And by how much is the ridership expected to increase with the opening of the next sections? Is the ridership as expected by the transit authority? Sorry for the many questions 😅 Greetings from Paris!

Anyone feel the 'this is an all stops service to....Tallawong/Chatswood' is somewhat redundant?? Because a key feature of Sydney Metro is that all services are all stops!! Unless this changes with the extension to Sydenham & Bankstown, it at least currently is redundant

Watched the vlog, could barely make out the text on the PID. Seriously crap, backward step, but the announcements were fine. Why oh why do rail operators persist with tiny fonts, black lettering on a white background. It's hard to read, seems logic in public transit left the building long ago.

But then when I saw Sydney Metro Vlog 30, I was shocked. As an autistic person, I don't like it when someone doesn't keep their word.

Definitely wasn’t a lie, it was a change due to an issue with the Vlog 2200 upload being stuck in the processing phase as it’s a 50 minute video. It has been Re uploaded and processing is working correctly now so it’ll be ready by the 7th :) But i completely understand but sometimes there are changes in the schedule due to unpredicted things :)

Just like the government lied when they say Sydney Trains will get a timetable overhaul in 2022/2023, but in the end will not happen until mid-2024 with the exact date still not even announced yet. I was not happy considering how much I really hate this 7 year old timetable from November 2017.

On the Sydney trains network we have seen a new train set every 5 or so years but with many of the trains on the system being a few decades old it is necessary to bring out those new trains in comparison to the metro where the oldest trains are only like 6-7 years old

Door open announcement is still NO GOOD. The new PIDS system HAS NOT resolved the issue of late announcement of door open on which side of the metro. To those people who do not ride the metro daily, it is VERY IMPORTANT to announce which side of the doors will open at the next stop.

I do prefer taylor owynns for consistency. I'm guessing either: -They couldn't get the original metro announcer back -The original metro announcer was due to an unavailability on taylor's part.

Actually the answers are: 1) the first voiceover (2019-2020) did not cover terminal station advisory or interchange options, she just said “Next station is .” and “This Metro train will end at {Tallawong/Chatswood}.”. 2) the second voiceover (2020-2024?) did not cover every single interchange option (i.e. she forgot the interchange option for the intercity Central Coast & Newcastle Line at Epping). This is what Taylor's announcements are to fix.
