Traveling alone, not just to wild places, but also just to other cities or countries, taught me when faced with all kinds of problems I can manage. I am capable of much more than I thought I would be. It is a very calming realization, because it ultimately teaches you to trust yourself a little, to believe that if you have already done so many things alone you can at least try to deal with another one, and it makes the world seem much safer than I was used to and taught to believe.

As an oldie who has travelled widely in Europe and Asia, I can say that the most important part of this video is the statement "generally people are kind and willing to help out." Very true in my experience. In life, you never know how you will get there, but you'll get there in the end.

Oh, my God! You just went at the village of one of my grandmother's ( the other one is further Peshkopia, almost in the borders with Kosova and Dibra of Macedonia). I wrote a comment at your previous video that I travell further Burrel in more higher mountain areas and what do you know - you are going right there, in my grandma's village...... Do you know that these are some of the poorest areas of Albania as well and nobody goes there? I bet 3/4 of Albanians have never been there ( only locals). I congratulate you Syifa for going somewhere that I never thought it would be possible for someone to go willfully. You are very brave! ( I'm a little angry that they left you to stand on the bus.)

@Syifa Adriana - This is an excellent video, the best one to date of an already good Albanian series. The points you make about language barriers and trusting instincts are interesting. Personally, I never found language to be so much of a barrier as two people, of completely different backgrounds and cultures, can always make themselves understood by one another. Having even a rudimentary grasp of another language, any language, can also help because it gives you the idea of 'word association', how words often crop up in other languages (for example, any word ending in 'tion' in English). The aspect of 'trusting your instincts' is also a interesting because normal, everyday life in the city can dull this 'awareness' and make us mistrustful. Broadly, however, I always think that we all have an inherant 'good' within us. When I was hitch-hiking around Europe back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, I used to hear horror stories from other hitch-hikers but, in five years of hitching, I never had any such bad stuff happen to me so I rather imagine that these 'horror stories' were exaggerated... rather like a 'fisherman's story'! Humanity is, basically, good because we, most of us, treat people as we ourselves would like to be treated... it's a natural instinct. Great edition and one which I can see you had fun making (despite leaving that wonderful family with whom you stayed in the previous videis).
@SyifaAdriana2 жыл бұрын
Aw Tony, so glad to hear this from you! I do enjoy a good old travel day video. A simple way of traveling and getting a taste of local's way of living. I do agree with what you said about the instinct. Thanks for sharing your hitchhiking experience. I have always wanted to do hitchhiking but always so intimated by it hahaha!
@tonyobadinage66472 жыл бұрын
@@SyifaAdriana If I could advise you, my advice would be NOT to indulge your desires for investigating hitchhiking. Quite apart from the obvious dangers, I think that it's not accepted so readily these days. I loved it and, although there were bad times (no lifts for hours when the rain was pouring down hard), I really only remember the good times. It's a weird feeling to wake up in the morning and not know where you will be that night because where you go is entirely dictated by chance. I can't count the number of times I set out for one place only to end up somewhere equally as exciting but completely different and not previously thought of - this happened most of the time!

Wherever u go in the world deep in rural area u can face unpredictable adventure but in Albanian we love and have great hospitality for all tourist all over the worlds thnx for coming to us
