In the first game, on turn 1 he could synchro into baxia with taia. Taia sends mo ye to gy. Baxia pops monk to revive mo ye from gy. That way he would get 1 additional card in addition to baxia instead of monk. On turn 3, he could normal summon taia, banish long yuan to summon token, then activate adhara in gy to retrieve the long yuan and make another level 10 synchro

Other option he could have gone for was Taia send another copy of Ashuna to the gy. Ashuna banishes itself to summon Adhara. Adhara and Chixao to make Shenshen, then Adhara banish itself to add back Ashuna. That would give him a pop 2 with blackout, Shenshen's effect and an omninegate

@@jasonooi4246 monk of the tenyi is a hard requirement for the tenyi variant of the swordsoul strategy. you’d want to run as many as you can with a minimum of two. tenyi monsters can only activate their effects when you control a non effect monster. since monk is a non effect link monster, you can make them with any of the tenyi wyrms. a classic example is opening a hand with ashuna and adhara (level 1)/vishuda (level 7). special ashuna bc you don’t control any effect monsters -> link ashuna into monk of the tenyi -> summon either adhara or vishuda -> activate ashuna in the graveyard to special the one you don’t already have on the field -> synchro into any level 8 using adhara and vishuda. this combo doesn’t take up a normal summon so you can extend even further with your swordsoul cards.

MD is quicker with adjusting their banlist than the TCG. I would expect the ishizu cards to get hit pretty quickly. That said, pote/dabl/mama/phhy are all high power level sets, they'd have to literally ban most of the cards from them for them to not shake up the meta a lot if not entirely overtake it.

Yeah but board breaking requires going 2nd cards that take up space if you want to draw them. And sometimes you go against decks where you simply don't have enough cards for their negates/ cards that play around board breakers.
