If you couldn't follow it, Number 43: Manipulator of Souls ability allows it to gain atk equal to the number of life points gained, so either way, the opponent would've had a monster with 13000 atk, but the second part of the ability allows it to deal direct damage equal to gained lp as long as Manipulator of Souls is face up, thus, Sykkuno was never meant to win that duel even if he had magic cylinder in his hand.

Odds are you'll draw some of them, and in doing so you would be able to stop this combo since if you interrupt even one of their cards, they can't otk. There's ways around it, sykkuno just doesn't play them xd
