I have a 16 ats v it has apple play but not android. Of course I don't use apple. Will this unit enable android auto if car already has apple?

I don’t believe so. I want to say someone said something about that but I believe the android auto thing is an issue within the car. You can send your unit off to get it turned on properly. That’s just something that happened in 2016 models I believe.

Completely unrelated question… did you install seat brackets for the carbon buckets in the Cayman that tilt and lower the seat little further back? If so, what brand did you go with?

Yes I have the Designs by Jacob recliner brackets. I need to make a video about it. Overall they are fine, but the issue is the reclined position is too far back for street/no helmet and the stock position is to upright for track/helmet. Wish someone would create a 2 position bracket even if it means crawling down there to make the adjustment

Thanks for these reviews!! I'm waiting for when you can simply stream media (video) directly without need of separate Wifi. This has got to be possible especially with these devices that are Wifi connected to the phone.

The problem is the unit doesn't have any options for settings. They lock the in depth settings out.

There is no USB plug in box out there that will give you any of this without wired carplay or android auto capability in your car already.

I've used a couple of these and they both ran extremely hot which was a concern. The second one was I couldn't play the radio while simultaneously running carplay or android auto.. How does this do in regards to both scenarios?

@larrymormon6525 yes they do get warm. I consider how I place it in my car to minimize how hot it gets. I’ve played the radio while running CarPlay with mine. And other adapters.

Wondering if this is a good solution to many Porsche owners with android phones. Like you, I have a GT4. BUT I have an android phone. The car does have apple car play. I do have an iPhone (without a sim card) which I use to get Waze and other apps on the interface but I always have to run hotspot from my android phone. All works fine but obviously, I can't take calls from my android phone which is a big deal. Will using this device allow me to bypass the iPhone and just use my android phone? Making calls is key here. Maybe you can make a video showcasing that? Thank you for your efforts and your GT4 looks amazing. Keep up the great work 👍

This will not add android auto. However there are functions in the android operating system side of the unit. But none are as snappy as direct from your phone. Let me test some things out and I’ll get back to you. Maybe a personal video. So message me on IG or FB if you have access

However overall I prefer the PCM hack to activate android auto. Free and pretty easy on your own or pay someone $200 or so to do it for you remotely. Myself and a number of people have done it. It’s been great and added navigation and track precision app functionality.
