Comment on heat. From one of the manufacturer of OAP. With the stock GPF pipe the filter causes higher temps based on the filter restriction. I’ve added the OAP and didn’t insulate them, wrong or right. I thought about doing the heat wrap fabric I’ve used on motorcycle exhaust. When I get bored I may give that a try. Great video !! 100% love the improved exhaust note.
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
Yeah those filters are big heat sinks. Maybe on a 55-65 degree day and oil temp stable you could check your temps after shutdown?

You should try stock muffler, resonated over axle pipes, 200 cell headers. I think that might be the sweet spot. Headers and resonator will reduce drone

Great video, just like the oil change one. You make these DIY jobs much less intimidating for those less experienced. You do mention the sensors missing in the U.S. spec in the OPFs, but does the removal of the OPFs with the OAPs require any reprogramming? I thought that removing the OPFs will be recognized by the car and always trigger a code and check engine light due to the change in back pressures? As a side note, I will also check with my dealer on any potential warranty issues but I'm sure they will be ok with this mod as they previously told me that they are totally ok with any change unless it directly causes the car to break down and I think Porsche is much more open to mods than any other brand.
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
Thanks! No check engine light. It’s a non issue for sure. If your dealer said that you will be fine. Most are fine with exhaust mods in the US. However, asking them directly they may be less inclined to encourage it. :). Happy modding

Please not the lower title at 16:43 says “stock pipes” but it should say “Over Axle Pipes”

You make this seem so simple that even mere mortals with a set of jackstands and a nice collection of tools can do it. Going slow, what would you say for the installation? 3 hours? 4 hours? Watched the comparison video released in conjunction with this one and the sound is great, slightly different personality than the 981 but still wonderful.
@JetFuelOnly8 күн бұрын
Yeah that time frame sounds about right going slow. Some other brands have bolts instead of the studs and those studs can give people issues. I’m glad mine came an apart fine. You can probably get away without removing the muffler too, seen that done but also may be frustrating

Did you ever get a good answer from Soul Performance about the dB levels? I'm at the same tracks you are, so it would be good to know if they hit 105dB... Reason I'm interested is that the PO of my car put on an Fi exhaust that sounds good above 3500 rpm, but drones terribly under that, so anything under the speed limit steady freeway driving is bad. Cheers!
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
No nothing unfortunately. There are a lot of variables to sound stations and tracks so it’s a little gray.

Thanks for watching! What do you think of the tight clearance with the frame on the driver side? Was that an issue with the earlier generation that was corrected?
@FabspeedMotorsport Жыл бұрын
@@JetFuelOnly Yes, those look like super early models and we have made a few changes since then. But we still think you will be okay with the clearance you have.

Do you think heat coating works as well as that insulation? I have my headers and downpipe coated and it definitely makes a difference, but it's not as effective as that insulation you did. I'm just trying to lower underhood heat, but I think if i wanted to protect components, I'd go with the insulation wrap.
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
Honestly I’m not sure! I did a lot of research. Jet hot does work pretty well though. I remember almost able to touch some coated headers once.
@katrinagwen Жыл бұрын
Do you think this OAP install can be done with the rear of car on a ramp and wheels on without too much of a hassle trying to work on the triangle flange that connects to the headers? BTW, best how-to installation vid thus far on KZbin. By chance, you don't host the "Essential Tennis" KZbin channel, do you? You look and sound very similar to one of their presenters.
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
Lol, I’ll have to check out the Essential Tennis channel. Glad you liked my install. I would say no to the wheels being in. You want every advantage you can get to put the wrenches in the right angle. I would just use the ramps to pull the muffler then do each side one at a time on a jack/jackstand.

isnt a tune mandatory once you install the oap? gives a better sound, better for the engine but prly voids your ecu warranty
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
Your points are valid but negligible. Definitely not mandatory. Generally nobody tunes after OAP unless they are in Europe and have monitors and want the CEL turned off.

You mean the OPF filter sensors? You will see a pretty obvious cable and 1” diameter connector in the side of the pipe after the filter.

Actually you might want to call it 982 GT4 instead of 718. The 718 is a name, not a nomenclature like 981. It's 981 Cayman GT4 VS 982 718 Cayman GT4.
@JetFuelOnly Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I’m aware and hopefully other viewers are too but 718 seems to have become the most common way to identify the new generation. But you are right!
