Narcissistic tendency to play with his victims is why he takes the time to go thru the drama. A narcissist needs to know their target is broken an no longer a threat. So he is in his way manipulating Claire to try to turn her to his side so he can feel justified in his self narrative of the situation - simultaneously demonizing everyone else. Because to narcissist it's never their fault or they see themselves as a victim an take no accountability. It's just how that personality works.

I mean with all his abilities, you're right he could have killed them without the extra drama. But narcissist have to 'recruit' others to validate their way of thinking about themselves because it aides in reinforcement of their personal views an helps to validate that if someone else believes them.

@@MrsCKane Sylar can't copy and he can't get other people's abilities by simply being near them like Peter used to do. He can only steal a power by cutting open their brain or through empathy by touching someone. He never had Matt's telepathy power in any part in the show. If he did why did he need Matt to put a mental block on how to use his abilities in Volume 5? So no Sylar didn't have telepathy here you're wrong.
