Old RPGs were so much better than the modern stuffs. Graphics were not as good as today but the artwork and the ambiance were so great.

Today's games focus completely on having the most difficult action gameplay and most complicated and convoluted leveling systems for the most part, with the story and ambience being tacked on. It was a sad day when action gamers from consoles started buying PCs and action gaming fused with RPG gaming. I don't think it would have been all bad if it had not completely replaced the CRPG genre for so long. They started having more games like the old style in the last 5 or so years, but a lot of them still bake in the overdone skill tree difficulty stuff and rely too much on revising to have "balanced" gameplay throughout the whole game, so that completionists don't complain about it becoming too easy if you spend ages maxing out skills and levels. So all current RPGs put most of their budget into that.

@@mOnocularJohn Even the best of the modern RPGs feel somewhat dumbed down, but I still enjoy many of them, like PoE2, which is my favourite of the recent years. Pathfinder Kingmaker is also really good. But yeah most mainstream RPGs are really simplified, which is a shame.

@@ryanc5572 Modern "rpg" are mostly action oriented focusing more on story and geting more stuff. Instead on mechanical deepth.

Good work 👋, 1995 very late for this RPG, but it's a very good classic reference, one of my favorites

By the time OPL3 hit CD audio had taken over. So few games took advantage of it, but the opl2 has a long list of bangers

Last game of its genre, until Legend of Grimrock temporarily revived the genre.
