Cortosis was why their lightsabers were shorting out and it also blocked the stun blast. Cortosis also stopped the Jedi from reading his mind

thing is, Yellow lightsabers at the time signified Jedi sentinels. Jedi who could easily hide themselves amongst civilians, both in appearance and in work, as they were also skilled in electronics, starships, etc. second, Qimir's helmet and gauntlet are made of cortosis, which is the only material that can short out lightsabers. if Beskar could do so, Mando would've won against Gideon in season 2 in seconds
