Slack Jaw is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've heard in a long time.

This song is inexorably sad, a person who has happiness all around them and yet, is inexplicably melancholic and sad while at the same time in awe at the beauty around them. So many emotions.

That’s a very clever way to describe the exact feeling I’ve felt when I listened this song for the first time. But I wasn’t able to put words over it! Thanks mate !

I'm not crying, you're crying. 😢 While the album version is both lovely and magical, this version is positively transcendent. When Nick slipped his headphones back on and closed his eyes... 😢 I love this version so much. Thank you, Nick, Amelia and Jenn. ❤ And thank you, NPR, for sharing this gem.

I love that Nick puts the earphones back on even after his parts over. No matter how many times he hears Amelia's voice, he can't get enough 💙

In the most appreciative way possible, it's as if you can hear Regina Spektor and Feist snippets, sneaking in and out a verse or other, making it comfortably familiar, though not hindering this sweet, yet hurting..otherness.

I'm walking down the aisle to this song in June (this Echo Mountain session version) and I KNOW that this is the perfect song! When I first heard this song years ago, it was such a huge mix of emotions for me, and has spoken to me at every step in my life: through trauma, through finding myself, through healing and finding love

Ah the change in tone at the beginning of the line 'oh slack jawed me', it's so UTTERLY lovely and beautiful, it's so good, such a good change...

I’d never heard this song until my little sister performed it on her Facebook. I’ve listened to this song on both the original version and these sessions, and I think this version stands far superior and much more emotion and thought provoking. It’s simply amazing how music can move you.

It's all just stunningly beautiful. I am imagining the closing shots of a heart-breaking film, perhaps the battered hero returning home from some great struggle, and then you hear those first piano notes as the image softens and slows...

I got all the parts I wished for I've got everything I need Sometimes I'm above water But mostly I'm at sea Oh, slack jawed me Can't you see? There's so many rhythms and harmonies And I'm walking the dog back It's not like I got hurt or broken Or ruined on the way It's an ache and it shines through me A swallow in a cage Oh, slack jawed me Can't you see? There's so many rhythms and harmonies And I'm walking the dog back Is it a sign? Or just a landmine? Or a feeling roaming free? It's overtaken me Gonna hold it 'til it dries up Or pocket it for another day If it's me I cannot give up I'd rather that she stayed Oh, slack jawed me Can't you see? There's so many rhythms and harmonies And I'm walking the dog back I got all the parts I've wished for I got everything I need Sometimes I'm above water But mostly I'm at sea Oh, slack jawed me Can't you see? There's so many rhythms and harmonies And I'm walking the dog back
