Friday Night With Jonathan Ross

8 ай бұрын

Sylvester Stallone joins Jonathan on the couch to talk Arnold Schwarzenegger, critics criticizing Rambo's violence, staying in shape and family life.
#SylvesterStallone #ArnoldSchwarzenegger #EXPEND4BLES
He defends the ultra-violent new Rambo which critics are saying is the most violent film in years: "It's very violent, but I thought I can't soft-pedal it, it's a real war film."
And reveals there are more Rambos to come: "I'd love to go back to Rambo again, you don't get to play that kind of character very often. At first it was stereotyped but now I'm really proud to have done it. It's timely, ten years ago it wouldn't have been right."
Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone takes to the sofa, along with Skins star Nicholas Hoult and mezzo-soprano sex symbol Katherine Jenkins. With music from the Guillemots.

Although very successful, Stallone as an actor is very underrated. The scene in First Blood where he breaks down emotionally and tells Colonel Trautman the story about his dying friend in Vietnam is one of the best performances ever in the history of cinema.

@@ryanrobinson8682 Nobody is saying that he isn't respected or admired. As an actor he is underrated. He won't show up in anyone's top ten list of actors from his era like Pacino, De Niro or Hofman. Yet his performance in First Blood is outstanding and especially the ending is one of the best dramatic scenes put on film.

I’ve seen that movie plenty of times and like the scene; HOWEVER, it is kind of hard to make out the words he says in that scene, in my opinion. He kinda hasn’t broken out of that action hero mold though, but he’s still an iconic actor.

The rocky series changed my life. Funny to say but it shaped my childhood in subtle ways. Walked out of the theater, ran home, asked my dad for a punching bag...fast forward 25 years became a black belt, and even today work out every day - and in small ways I attribute this to Rocky even to this day.

My Papa was the manager of the meat processing center in the films at the time the Rocky movies were made. He said he met Sly but didn’t think much of him since he wasn’t a known actor. He always said how annoying it was during the filming because the crew slowed production. My Papa ❤️ was a no nonsense man, and he worked hard for his family. Just like to say whether you are the real Stallone or not, Sylvester Stallone stuck to his guns and bet it all on himself and won big because he believed. Rocky was an incredible launching pad. This is obviously going back a bit now. But one thing I Don’t Like in today’s action movies is, the violence is OTT. They don’t have to show blood poring out their heads. So on. Action film is the past are equally as good. Without having to show blood poring out someone’s mouth. There’s just different ways of doing things.
