I’m a native davoena and i brought some friends from iloilo who had their residency training in davao, they also don’t like durian at first. But living in davao for many years have made them a fan already. So i think it could be an acquired taste also. They would even bought a lot and really indulge 😊! I think it’s custardy in nature 😊

Ziv is more Filipino than other Filipinos. hahaha Well, I can't say Davaoenos are more Filipino than other Filipinos since Philippines is a variety of cultures. But Davao (Region) is not called as "Fruit Basket of the Philippines" for nothing. Also, I'm amazed Ziv knows that we can boil Langka/Nangka/Jackfruit seeds for snacks! Not all know that. It actually tastes like more sweet potato than durian. PS: I threw up (sorry for the word) when I tried Durian the first time. The second time? - and more - it tastes like heaven!

Hello! Just to sum up and for more info., Durian is not high in cholesterol, it is actually very nutritious it can lower your bad cholesterols because of its good monounsaturated fats. The ones that they refer to that can cause blood pressure is actually the calorie and carbohydrates, "It has high sugar content". That's why it should be eaten in moderation. Fun fact: Cholesterol is only found in animals, not in plants❤

You will not have a big spike in your cholesterol level after eating durian. Just to further explain this, dietary cholesterol is not the main culprit of increase blood cholesterol, so eating food with high cholesterol (squid as one example) won't really affect you much unless you already have high cholesterol in the first place. Cholesterol is made by your liver, and for the liver to make bad cholesterol they need saturated fat, so the amount of saturated fat you consume is what increases your bad blood cholesterol, not dietary cholesterol. Since durian has no saturated fat and only contains monounsaturated fat, it will not increase your bad cholesterol levels. Now what does cholesterol have anything to do with blood pressure, there are two types of cholesterol, HDL (Good Cholesterol) and LDL (Bad cholesterol), saturated fat increase the bad cholesterol, more bad cholesterol means slowly but surely overtime it will clog your arteries, narrowed arteries due to clogging increases pressure, thus increase your blood pressure.

I miss durian🥺 I'm from davao. But here in Qatar right now. If its season of fruits in davao city which is around august during kadayawan festival, it only cost 20 to 25 per kilo. Its a very nutritious fruit. Enjoy 😊

Fun vid to watch! 😊 we do have some way of removing the durian smell, you can drink water placed on the inside husk or white part of the durian to get rid of the smell and wash your hand holding and rubbing on the same part. Seems effective hehe

Really enjoyed this episode. It is unfortunate that Dohee didn’t like it. I think he had a different expectation since he didn’t find the smell offensive. But a lot of people also have this experience so it’s understandable. Ziv probably chose a really good durian. I’m surprised that almost everyone liked it. I was skeptical because it’s far from durian season but I guess it’s now grown tasty year-round. When a group of Germans tasted it, someone mentioned it had a similar taste to leeks and now when I eat durian, I also taste leeks. I still love it, though. I find it interesting that Ziv was born and raised in Davao. I wonder if he speaks Bisaya.

Manila Guy here. Back in the Philippines, my parents buy Durian at NEPA Q-MART in Cubao or in Divisoria if we can't go to Davao. That's where Durian are sold directly from Mindanao. I love Durian so much! 🫶🏻The texture is like Mashed potato for me. Taste is like an unriped melon.

There's a way in eating Durian that you wouldn't smell, works like magic. Eat it with your bare hands and for it not to smell, wash your hands along with the seed. For your mouth not to smell, drink water using its cover or peel. Thanks for trying Durian! ❤
