You probably know that, but the Hexenhammer (=Witchhammer) or Malleus Maleficarum was a book written by the German Dominican and Inquisitor Heinrich Kramer. It is a little difficult to describe in English, but this book legitimizes the hunt for witches and declares all those who oppose it heretics. The Hexenhammer is quite (in)famous in Europe and since witches and their opponents play an important role in this adventure - this might be the reason for this name.

I think the witches hammer is supposed to be a play on words. Like the witch bringing the hammer down on spiders or something like that. Wich makes the book make a little bit more sense
