There seems to be two definitions for symbiosis -
The one in most of the books I saw, including the study guide: "mutually beneficial relationship between two organisms".
In biology class, it's more of a neutral relationship between two organisms. There are three categories:
- Mutualism: benefits both parties
- Commensalism: benefits one without harming the other
- Parasitism: benefits one WHILE harming the other
