Thanks for making this video, as a jungian therapist with an interest in symbols and paganism I found it very informative. Even if I had never heard of or seen the awen before (not as far as I consciously remember at least) I immediately, instinctively envisioned an association, as if it was an extremely schematic representation, with the star-crowned Mother Mary in a long cape. There is such a holy statue here where I live, in a famous sanctuary that draws people from throughout the country and awakens intense devotion among locals. It really shows how Christianity actually incorporated a lot of pagan elements rather than erasing them, which would have been simply impossible because collective subconscious and imagery is too strong, and what are "sold" or passed off as Christian elements actually still hold their ancestral power. Every single lamp in that sanctuary is in the shape of Isis 8 pointed star, btw.

@@marthawissmann8268 it's Oropa, in North Western Italy. There is this black Mary in a sanctuary built on a raw stone that used to be a ritual "fertility slide" in pagan times. A friend of mine who is an esoterism expert said that the weird architecture of the place, with this disproportionately big building surrounding the main sanctuary is actually for protecting the huge energy of the place. Every 100 years there is a bigger festivity, the last one was 3 years ago and for the occasion, the statue was decorated with a cape sewn by nuns from small squares of tissue people had been encouraged to submit, usually with an emotional meaning. So many bits of tissue were brought, that the cape ended up being some 20 meters long, and it's now on full display in the sanctuary as a work of art. After some tries I managed to find the tiny pink embroidered teddy bear from the birth vest my daughter never actually wore, because she was covered in NICU gear instead. Born with Apgar score 1/10 due to severe perinatal asphyxia, she turned out not only surviving, but being completely healthy to this day ❤️

So basically everything “represents life death and rebirth” ? This is pretty shallow. The ancient world was much more interesting! Basically you found a way to allegorize instead of interpret symbolism (with the logic of feminist propaganda historically designed to divide large groups of people after WWI so the government could step in and unite them). But understanding pagan symbolism is a lot better and a lot worse than slapping the same basic explanation on every symbol you find

Wicca isn't ancient. It was put together by Gardener in the 60s on the isle of man with a bit of help from Alister Crowley and ceremonial magic to fill in the gaps, which were large and numerous. No formal witchcraft system has ever been found in its entirety. A lot of the symbols were adopted from other systems. Mainly, as I say, medieval ceremonial magic (which did the same in the middle ages. It's all based on Templar like knowledge like the Kaballah.) Most just wanna play dress up and LARP.

Just like so many people, assume the worst without knowing the truth. There is good and evil. Not just evil. Just because other people worship other gods and deities that does not mean they are evil that is not for other people to condem or judge as long as they don't harm you or them selves people should mind their own business. People believe what they want, which is their own personal freedom. Again, as long as they don't harm themselves or others, it's all good. Everyone is on their own journey through life. That doesn't mean you have to join in with peoples beliefs, but it is good to remember you have your own beliefs and you wouldn't want some disrespecting your beliefs.

Hey there! It's true that Wicca incorporates a lot of symbols from various cultures. It's part of what makes it so diverse and interesting! The blending of traditions and symbols can sometimes feel like borrowing, but it also reflects Wicca's inclusive approach to spirituality. Always cool to see different perspectives on this!
@FaeRose-w2o5 ай бұрын
Wicca is almost completely constructed from closed practices. The idea of evolving the old ways is not inherently bad, however many new age spiritualists are not doing it in the right way. Hellenic, Norse, and Celtic paganism are open practices, so the ideas taken from them are fine, but Wicca steals from many other cultures that are not okay with noninitiates using their magick, which can even be dangerou. I am a Chaos Witch, which means I have a similar process of taking the old ideas and using them with a modern framework, but that doesn't mean I have the right to practice something that I haven't been initiated into, or is not open to outsiders. Through Chaos magick it can be understood that all gods are spirits of the Astral Plane, meaning they exist in only a spiritual form, but not all of them are as welcoming as the Hellenic gods. As witchcraft is a personal practice, we have to be respectful of magick that is simply not for us.
@FaeRose-w2o5 ай бұрын
Wicca, and many other new age spiritualist groups, also have roots in racism, sexism, and many other bigoted ideas. Similar to how Odinism is inherently genocidal, Wicca is full of oppressive ideas like eugenics. It is a part of their teachings, and can not be removed without the destruction of the entire practice. It has a corrupt framework, so any Wiccan ideas can not be trusted.

@katkiskukacka909310 ай бұрын
Well Baphomet was just demonized, because the Hittites worshipped him as a symbol of fertility and the Jews started to worship him too, so they needed to stir the people back to the unseeable myth. That deity is so old, that nobody knows how old he is. Do not forget if you believe in the devil, you have to come from the three Abrahamic religion or from the Zoroastrians who invented him. Polytheistic religions don’t believe in Satan. They believe that some Gods are not good for humans, but ultimate evil doesn’t exist.

Edit ,...variations exist with 2, 3 or even more snakes ( or dragons). Its like with the symbol of the rose can represent the position of progress on the alchemic transformation or way to wisdom. It related to what is menat to use for. 4snakes could used if u want to refer to the 4 directions , 4 main elements, to master the interaction and master them to gain power over the 5th element which is representet from the circle itself.

The pentagram is based on venus' 8 year cycle. This was very important for navigation. This lead it to be thought of as lucky and the babylonians used to mark food containers with it to keep it fresher for longer. Later they were used to form code due to persecution. These symbols mean many many things. Each one can have many meanings within one system and then different ones in another system. You are mostly telling the modern meanings as opposed to their origional meanings. Ask a Templar or high level Mason; or a magus, if you can find one (a REAL one.)

@@SymbolSage Sorry your video was very informing and I think it's great you put stuff like this out. A world with so much darkness that you can't see unless your eyes are open to see makes me sick. Great job

Behind the scenes everything is geometry. At their base its kind of pure relations or above that, or better around that, is a kind of pure mind - Pure Space. Some one call it the 9 veils of Conciousness, 1st illusion of political Partie, and social educated behaviour 2nd the Organisations behind the scenes, familes,secret agencies, Organisations, sects, Religions, Metaphysik, worldviews, Collection of stories goddes, cultural Believes, Then there is a realm of several entities somewhere in Spiritual World, fays, devas, elbs etc.. Above that comes somewhere the realm or veil of the dragons. Later Above that its a veil of spells, Symbols, Pure math and geometry... Thats why a special pattern is needet for doing acting in one of the 'veils' u have to Do it from the higher realm. Like u have to act like a Soldier if u want someone to frighten of, or at least as a Psycho. If u want to influence, rule or 'dominate' something u have to take actions in the Level above theirs! Well, one out of a Million is just braking through the first veil, but it gets more today knew whats behind that political System.. Maybe if the first veils gets completely understand from whole humans, we reach a new Era, for Sure! At last whe are pure Energie or life force, but mostly trapped inside the first veil. Magicans must knew this Realms, its up to 'Ten Worlds' from which our well known World is just the first! They are all have a veil between or a border. Its a lot of Personal Power (personal free usable Chi) needed to breach up through the worlds behind /above. Most people dont have, cause they are trapped from the actors in that politic illusionary drama. Most just reach the 4th realm, but for the Real wizards they are able to go All through up to the tenth. U will find them if u look precisely. When i find the Text about that veils again, i will add them.

Ankh is pronounced phoenetically "onk" not Anke, other mispronounciations such as Alister, maybe have someone proofcheck before posting, good research though. Interesting

The internet totally needs a pronunciation dictionary for these occult and foreign religious terms.

I originally thought the Trinity not was a Norse pagan symbol😮

Hey there. Neat video. It's "safe" haha. Let me explain what I mean. There are symbols in here which you could dive much, much, further into, if you wanted to. It will take you down a trail of knowledge and fascination. This is fine as an intro to symbols, but you can dig deep, even following the threads past the time of the very inception of the "traditions" who adopted them. Keep asking "why" and it will take you toward the source of anything. Clearly you are a lover of knowledge, and I think you will find satisfaction in what you will find :) Peace.

The pentagram was a symbol of Jerusalem in ancient times.
@SymbolSage9 ай бұрын
Yes, during the period from around 300 to 150 BCE, the pentagram was used as a symbol for Jerusalem, represented by the five Hebrew letters ירשלם spelling its name. This highlights its historical significance and its varied use across different cultures and contexts. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint.

It was also used in the Middle Ages to represent the 5 wounds of Christ.

Where is the SWASTIKA and SUAVSTIKA?? are we just supposed to pretend that the number one most important pagan/animist symbol of peace and prosperity doesn't exist??? Every single ancient culture around the world used the swastika.

That is very true! Is there a reason you call it the #1 symbol as opposed to, say, the sun cross?
