Thank you for your explanation. I have a question related to the example in the minute: 14:34. On the previous video (right before this one) you have stated that the same molecule has a C6 and a sigma h symmetry, while on this one it is said that it has a C3 and no sigma h symmetry. Which is a bit confusing ! I'll be very grateful if you can explain it. Thank you in advance.

something is wrong: at 6:20 you say NO2 belongs to "c infini v" but it s C2v because it is non linear

Water has Sigma horizontal
@ChemWis2 ай бұрын
σh means a plane perpendicular to the principal axis. In water the principal axis is C2 and there is no plane perpendicular to that axis. So, water does not have σh

Hi... Thanks for your video❤️ but the last example your answer was D3d! It should be D3h becouse we have Sigma d
@ChemWis4 жыл бұрын
Thank for your comments. As I remember, the last example is related to the point group of allene. It has D2d point group due to the presence of Sigma d. For Dnh point group the molecule must have Sigma h. Please revisit this video for more clarifications.
@shamuelaandriani34293 жыл бұрын
Wrong! there is no sigma h so why would you group it as D3h? D3d is correct
