The deniers are socially inept. There wasn't a season where this wasn't repeatedly stated in various creative manners. Even the actors and staff are in on it. The final season is arguably about HibiMiku's relationship. There are many points in time where the contrast difference between Hibiki's friends and Hibiki's love interest is established. The friend group is very aware on how special Miku is to Hibiki. She is her special "friend". Chris Yukine use to find the whole thing a bit....too much. She got over it. Hibiki and Miku are never surprised or hesistant to hear Chris exclaim "GET A ROOM!!". There's a clear inward acceptance of their place together. None of Hibiki's pals are surprised by Hibiki's drive to go above and beyond for Miku during XV. HibiMiku are romantically entangled together. To require a confession scene for them is laughably shallow. Like dudes, they are already together, they already love each other, what's the point? Can they not understand each other without words? You can ask a girl out multiple times without ever officially calling them "Dates". You can love, marry and have children with a person you never claimed as a "GF/BF". Words are just words. Actions are all that matters. The only reason they are not officially labelled as the big gay is due to internal Japanese cultural affairs. It's such a terribly kept secret, but they do it for the fricks that get irrationally upset by the big gays.

As a curiosity, on the very last scene (as well on the cover for XV and the cover for Believe is All), you can see them holding hands with the fingers interlocked; in Japan, this is called 恋人繋ぎ, roughly translated as "lovers' hand hold" or literally "lovers' bond." Also in XDU there is an event that completely revolves around the idea of them having a date on Christmas, the thing being that in Japan Christmas is more of a day for lovers. I don't know, but I think the staff is trying to tell us something...
