This is the most beautiful choral ever written at the beginning of the passion according to San Mateo for 2 choirs and 2 orchestras separated and opposed at the same time for the dramatic passages, plus a choir in "ripieno" sung by the children, fabulous presentation of the "Concertgebouworkest ". Beautiful "tempo" I like slow "tempos" especially in BACH's passion overtures. Thank you for this musical gem. Among many versions of this work there is a version that is my favorite, I really love it, with the Concertgebouworkest, conducted by Eugen Jochum, with has incredible drama, and the unforgettable one from 1939 I think, live performance with Mengelberg, equally extraordinary.
