I've just finished listening to Lathja's nine symphonies - thank you so much for posting this incredible music! Lathja is a major discovery for me. I can't believe I haven't heard him before a few weeks ago. So inventive and unique! He should be much more widely known.

This is a symphony of contrasts, with outbursts of energy tempered by a decided melancholy. The gentle but surprising stab at 12:31 reminded me of Haydn's 94th, and of a less gentle, more surprising one in Pfitzener's 3rd. None of them hurts a bit, however, and this opus is quite congenial, and quite substantial, indeed..
