I think he is a better songwriter than solo-writer. He has some VERY well constructed solos, and shreds some awesome tapping, sweeping solos etc. but his solos are not as consistent as his riffs. You ALWAYS know that he'll deliver with the riff mastery.

Nice video, thank you, great tutorial to learn and understand the rhythmic changes in that riff, that could be pretty much difficult to be memorised. Technical is not difficult, relatively (SyX...) speaking. I have two questions though: 1) why the triplets on a 4/4 and not 1/8s on a 12/8 time signature in the first half of the riff? It would make much more sense and would be more elegant and correct IMHO. The tempo would remain the same anyway (ca. 138 BPM, with 1 beat = dotted 1/4 in the first part in 12/8) 2) Do you use an offset value when transcribing guitar tracks in D standard od Eb standard tuning? You didn't do it here, but I guess that a great accuracy of music notation was (understandably) not your priority here. Do you consider the use of offsets musically speaking correct in general= I am very curious to hear your opinion about it :) Thanx! I hope to see more SyX-tutorial videos from you someday!

1 - that's a tempo change, you've switched your measurement from quarters to dotted quarters. The quarter isn't worth what it was before. I also think mixing common and compound time is asking for trouble. 2 - are you taking about transposition? I'm not sure what you mean by offset value.

@@LeviClay Love your explanation on point 1. I understand what you mean. In the second half of the riff the notes are less and longer: I'd prefer to have a tempo change and assign a value of 1/4 to each notes (because I don't like infinite sequence of triplets, bar after bar, in an obviously not common time), whereas your notes switch from triplets to quarters in the first and second part of the riff, in order to avoid any (confusiong and not elegant) tempo alteration. Makes sense :) 2. Sorry for my very bad english. Yes, I meant trasposing the notation up one tone in this case as if the guitar were tuned standard and thus avoiding in general awkard key signatures (for example GNR - Paradise City in Gb with 6 flats) and helping out guitarists with music reading. I love that, it's very handy, but I don't know how much that could be considered formally correct or even acceptable... I'd love to hear your opinion about it
