+Eli Nannestad Hey, I am teaching in Cracow, Poland :) I did two videos about turns, check them out. About spins you should know that in salsa New York there are at least two ways of turning - and one (the way Eddie Torres and Adolfo teach) is without spins. However there are spins in Salsa NY (e.g. Yamulee) but it's not the style I teach and do.

+Danique Keijzer You can try to translate it on1 or just use some of it to dance on 1. However I encourage you to try it as it is. It will be more challenging but that's how you learn.

your syncopation is nothing of the sort. It is merely subdivision and I never understood why dancers cant grasp this. All musicians understand their word precisely to mean something that is against the main beat [which you call chord beat, which is another bullshit term since chords can just as easily be against the beat] what a lot of confusion.

You're right my friend :) I honestly thank you for your concern and I am happy that musicians watch my videos :). Yes, I need to say the dance terminology is musically incorrect many times. "Syncopation or syncopated steps" in salsa is not a rhythmic syncopation it's just a name that stuck to the 1/8 fast patterns. Also I agree that maybe the "chord beat" is not a perfect name for a 1/2 pattern however it's easy to understand without going deeper into the music terminology. Thank you for that comment and from now on I will disclaim the difference between the real syncopation and so :)

I am happy to find a dancer that understands this, I am a professional musician but I belong to a group of dedicated on 2 dansers here in Europe and they are trying to improve what they call musicality. I try and not get involved in musical discussions as they dont have the slightest idea about how music is constructed but it is weird that dancers dont use the same vocabulary as musicians. An example would be 1,2,3 fff ...ive 6, 7......wait a minute that five is not on five!! Blank stares......I am very happy with your Pachanga video, I think this is the best video I have seen on that, it was a real help and thanks for writing back too, especially since I was rather blunt. Looking forward very much to seeing more of your work.
