Kyle Raccoon I remember first discovering this in a Doom mod too and that mod happens to be an invasion map pack called Delta Invasion. This music also appears in two other invasion map packs and those happen to be Chaos From Hell Invasion and Complex Doom Invasion (both of them are created by the author who goes by the name, Blood).

Good job - When Jools or any other soldier died I always reloaded - they were just pixels but the had somehow so much more to them than today's game characters. I wanted to compete the mission with them, "we're not losing anyone today" - coh engineer :)

This was deep for a 2d game way deeper than I realised as a kid playing it growing up. Deployed to Baghdad and Basra and experienced combat and deaths. This song always stuck in my head and I always think how true/fitting the term cannon fodder is. All the lemmings and armchair generals crying out for war or conflict escalation are so ignorant to conflict

One of the best, most fun, and most memorable games I have played in my life (but at times incredibly frustrating too :D). I will never forget Cannon Fodder 1&2 and those amazing introductions. It also had that slightly ironic humor of the horrors of war - as lukasamid mentioned - which is sometimes unappreciated. Powerful remix of the song! Love it :)

I remember playing this game when I was like 12 on it's GBC, and DOS ports. Something few know is that the game got a sequel, and even less know of the 3rd Cannon Fodder game on steam from 2011.
