Synclavier V is definitely one of the best Arturia emulations - along with the DX7 V, the Mellotron V and the new Oberheim OB-Xa V.

Synclavier V is not an emulation... it's a software implementation of the real thing. But yes, it's certainly one of the best things Arturia has done

I'm really not sure if there is a modern equivalent to a hardware Synclavier, specially the Synclaiver II. Synthesis, sampling, sequencing, notation...just nuts how powerful it was. I don't think there is a single hardware or software instrument that does all that.

EverettDudgeon138 I suspect that if Arturo’s wanted to, creating a fully capable Synclavier in software wouldn’t be too hard. Today’s hardware capabilities are light years beyond anything NED could have ever dreamed of in the Synclavier’s time. I think the only reason they wouldn’t is that there’s no real market for it anymore. The days of knob-twiddling and waveform-drawing are more or less done, sadly.

Arturia originally wanted to concentrate on the special mode of FM/additive mode of synthesis that the Synclavier used, and never really caught on elsewhere - but they added a sampler and re-synthesis in the second version, making it even more of a draw!

Completely agree here. If you’ve ever messed around with all the features on an actual Synclavier unit, you realise how the software versions just don’t do it any justice. I still find its workflow more efficient than any DAW.

Definitely beats the hell out of UVI’s Beast. A bad collection of aliased samples does not a Synclavier make.
