If lovin a Synclavier is wrong I don't wanna be right! Yeah sure its decades later and the power of modern plugin VST's and computers decimate the old Synclavier, but for those of us who were young keyboards players in the 70's and 80's, it was just a pipe dream flipping through the pages of Contemporary Keyboard magazine every month and seeing those big Synclavier ads and knowing we'd never own one, so this Arturia Synclav is a nostalgic must have and a steal along with the other excellent classic Synths in the new V collection. Thankyou Arturia!

Hi, I have an Arturia Minilab and the V Collection 5. Loving both of them, great value and great sound, and I am really liking the Modular V and the Synclavier V, my 2 favorite synths from the V collection. I really loved this tutorial, thanks for taking the time to explain some details that seemed criptic to me, specially when I still have a hard time working with FM synthesis. Thanks for reviving this synth, I love how it sounds and how it works. I will use it in my productions for a veeery long time

I first read about the Synclavier in an interview with Zappa in the early 90s. He gushed about it and it simply sounded amazing. He then went on to say that unfortunately because it is so expensive "normal people" will never get a chance to use one and what a shame it is that something that is so revolutionary and powerful is going to be used to make TV commercial jingles instead or real art.... Or something along the lines of that. The point is that for a few decades now I have pondered about the Synclavier, and here now after all that time I have the ability to see what Frank was talking about. I have the Demo version loaded and have been playing with it with my Keylab 49 Essential. I am blown away.... between this and Neural DSP I am going to go into debt.

Great intro tute. This synth seems pretty alien to a Moog mentality (like me) - and I think you nailed the main features of the gui. I'm getting a lot more out of my demo time on this plugin after watching this vid. Thanks

Really good, they even thought of the option to disable animations for faster work flow. Really good sounding software!

How do I install new presets
@EverettDudgeon1388 жыл бұрын
Can you put splits and layers on the synth and perform in real time or can it be only one tambre at a time? Also in regards to looping a tambre. How does this work? Does it simply loop over and over as the key is held or can you have it latch on and loop until the key is pressed again? Also can you create your own arpeggios?

It will be a real Synclavier emulation when the factory sample library and user sampling is included.
@0102031093 жыл бұрын
I dunno how much of it is in there but they added at least part of the og sample library. Also added user sampling, and resynthesis of samples for a vocoder like effect. It works pretty well.

Can a piezo guitar play the synclavier 5 ?
@ArturiaOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Hi Marshall, I don't know what a piezo guitar is but you can play with synclavier with anything as long as it send MIDI messages. I hope it helps

(3:08) ?? "So on a sound thats additive it won't really do anything, but if its FM-based , it will." Correct me if Im wrong, but isn't FM additive?
@SteveAstronaut7 жыл бұрын
No. Additive synthesis is where sine waves are added together to make timbres and frequency modulation is where sine waves are modulated by other waves. The amount of sine waves going into making a sound in an additive synth varies, I believe Linplug Spectral uses 256! Whereas I don't think the number of waves used in FM tends to get into double figures.
@midiguy4u7 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 100%.Perhaps I was being to literal.In FM you are grouping (stacking) operators to either modulate or carry, but you are doing so with a pre-set waveform, and additive synth ( or say an organ) uses a set waveform too, while you can't usually multiply ones frequency ( or in the case of DX7- phase modulate) with another, you still need a starting point with FM. In addition, I can perform FM on my analog modular, and those are preset waveforms too.
