Great footage, great history. Love the way President Jomo Kenyatta uses "posh old school English terminology" by referring to the year 1967 as the year "nineteen hundred and sixty seven" unlike how we today plainly refer to the year 1967 as "nineteen sixty seven." Notice Mama Ngina Kenyatta and Uhuru Kenyatta at 2:27. Uhuru Kenyatta was 11 years old at the time, just about to turn 12 years old. Regards, Michael M. As you can see Kibaki next to Mzee at the foundation stone, He was Minister for Commerce and Economic Planning then. KICC was a meant to usher Kenya into the Seminars, Conferences and training industry which was Big Business. I wonder whether they still pursue those Goals...

The 1st joint annual conference of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) to be held in Africa, was held at the Kenyatta Conference Centre in September 1973, about two weeks after Kenyatta Conference Centre was officially opened on 11th September 1973 i.e. about two weeks after the above video was taken. Another major global conference that was held at Kenyatta Conference Centre is the United Nations Decade for Women of July 1985.
