My grandfather also participated in this war on behalf of India, he was an army engineer. He told me that before the surrender, Pakistani soldiers had looted a lot of money and expensive goods in Dhaka, which was recovered from them during the surrender process. it was very embarrassing for their officers. Another thing he told me was that the Pakistani soldiers were so coward that they were saluting even the sweepers of the Indian Army. And he always used to say that the Indian Army has done a bigger job than defeating Pakistan and that is to save the Pakistani soldiers and their families from the vengeance of the Bengali people. Otherwise not a single Pakistani or their family members would have survived, and their end would have been very pitiful.

Yes, here, it was a combined slapping session for Pro Pakistani Bangladeshi Razakars by Punjabis and Tamils. Couple of fantastic slaps were served to each of those free of cost. Tea wasn't served. Tea and whiskey was served to their leader Niazi later after he surrendered.

This is one of the greatest tank battle in the world after the battle of kursk(2nd world war) . indian contingent lost more than 200 soldiers in that battle. later on the command was handed over to the Mej. M. Monjur (8 no. sector commander of Bangladesh liberation force). When major Mahindra Singh made a mistake and lost most of tha tank by the ambuse of pakistani military then Bangladeshi army officer sector commander Major M A Manjur take the charge and lead the operation with twelve suicidal commando and succeded. Then Brigadier Hayaat Khan with 157 dead bodies of pakistani army and all troops surrender to the bengali bravest son Major Manjur. Finally Jessore and Khulna became independent by the 'Mukti Bahini'.
