The setting and the mood and the story, the general overall feeling was something that not many games get down properly. The game "failed" because of other reasons, not because it was a bad game per se.

They should have named it "Syndicate:" with some sort of extension of the title that suggests they're going for another genre, like how Dead Island: Riptide is different in genre from the Dead Island series.

My favorite. Perfectly evokes the original theme that plays during the levels in the original Syndicate. It's slower and closer to the original Syndicate. The original wasn't fast-paced or frantic. It was a slower and more methodical game. You were meant to think before you acted.
