If you look at the pictomancers outfit, it seems to be very moogle inspired, with the overall costume design, the spell that involes sketching a moogle, and you even see a little pom hanging off the beret! Call it a hunch, but I have a feeling the pictomancer lore is gonna have a lot to do with moogles, perhaps even our art instructor will be a moogle as well! Regardless, I've been crossing my fingers for a pictomancer since I started playing over a year ago, and I am over the moon to finally see it!

I am of the opinion that Solution 9 and Arcadion will be tied into the Second Umbral Calamity of Lightning. As they're both powered by lightning and appear to be underground, it makes complete sense for a society to have evolved deep underground. As for the cosmic thing? It might be on the moon, but the background has structures reminiscent of the Omicron areas of Ultima Thule. They also stated visiting planets specifically and not stars. I think it feasible to be focusing on the species that 'settled' in Ultima Thule (though that was explored at fair length in the Omicron tribal quest line), though I'm holding out hope that it will indeed be on the moon. And if it IS on the moon, which is connected to the moons of all of the reflections, this could potentially result in our visiting other shards, or at the very least establish a proper gateway back to Norvrandt.

My theory is that the massive "pillar" we see in the back of Heritage Found is in fact the support pillar for S9, meaning the town could actually be very high up similar to FF7 Midgar. And considering how there's massive thunderstorms ongoing underneath in HF, could it be that S9 was some civilization's "castle in the sky" solution to survive by being literally beyond the reach of the Calamity of Lightning, instead of bunkering up in caves as most did?

I thought Lightning was the first? I might be mistaken in my order of things though. But I do 100% subscribe to a similar theory. Alternatively, Solution Nine may be survivors of the Ninth Reflection who managed to transfer over before their world ended. But they still make heavy use of Lightning Aether. I am guessing the Calamity that took the Ninth Reflection though was the Lightning Calamity either way. Or it has something to do with Terra.

To be fair, I never thought we'd visit another shard or space before exploring the whole planet. When I finished Stormblood and started Shadowbringers two years ago with no one in my FC spoiling me (because spoiling is almost a crime in this game), I was so surprised These devs are madmen and I love them for this reason. Haven't played since 6.1, can't wait to come back

Solution 9 was definitely the biggest surprise. I predicted that we'd be getting a Sci-Fi setting for the future, but I was certain it was going to be like a 9.0 thing when we go Shard traveling. Never thought it'd be this soon.

Solution 9 looks like the starting thread of a major subplot that could play out over more than one expansion. First off, both the Ancients and Allagans had the technology, but the architectural style is different from the examples we have seen of either. Note the trees in the pictures, assuming they are "normal" trees, they give you the scale of the structures. The Ancients were giants and the trees suggest normal human size inhabitants. Note the picture of a blue lit sign with arrows pointing in different directions. The middle line shows a human like head and shoulders with what looks like headphones and an arrow pointing to the left. Finally, note that the lights are on and everything is in good condition, not disrepair. This isn't an abandoned ruin. Remember the city under the ocean in Shadowbringers? To me the city screams of being a major element in whatever new direction they are taking the MSQ.

I've seen other people talk about it, but Solution 9 is a huge reference epicenter to FF9, and there are text written in the old unsundered alphabet across the signs mentioning Soul Supply and such. Lotta Genome Theories happening on twitter now. And in The Arcadion artwork there is Altima's Sigil in the sky, kinda merged with Deudelophon's. The Composer and The Architect. This whole thing is very plausibly evident of missing Convocation members creating something of their own for who knows what purpose.

Theorycrafters are eating good right now. Lots of discussion about Solution 9, specifically. The prevailing theory right now is, it could be a city from another shard that somehow found a way to the Source (basically what Golbez was trying to do, but somehow these people succeeded). After seeing the screenshot for the Arcadion, personally, I think it was done by an Ascian(s?).

My personal theory is that it comes from the First Umbral Era set up by the Twelve to protect people after the first Ascians caused the destruction of the Thirteenth as a means meant to help people survive.

@@cybernurgle6413 One suggestion I've seen is that it's an ark from that shard that ended up on the Source before the Second Umbral Calamity. It would've been heavily lightning-aspected to begin with, so a civilization based on electricity would just be a natural outcome of that. Emet did say the civs on the shards would surprise us.

It is definitely either from before the sundering or from really early after the sundering since the script used is proto eorzean script, so the ancestor of both the eorzean and norvranthan scripts. Unless the script somehow found itself on both shards through some kind of intershard travel that means that proto font needs to have been from before the sundering or very early after the sundering before it evolved into different types

so, inspired by Krile and (to a much lesser extent), Lord Kaien's presence in the MSQ, I got the idea that when I started getting serious with my RP community, I'd 'kill off' my original character in a primal tempering arc that involved a lalafell named Relmela coming from Old Sharlayan to investigate. this was during 4.2. I grinded the Mado Brush from the Garo event. I've experimented with various glam. I got the wind-up Relm minion from the HW artbook. I even made up this whole sthick about Relmela and her Hyuran granddad studying magical arts from the new world. (this was before we had any substatial info on things like BLU. I had kinda assumed the Sharlayans had spearheaded exploration of the new world just because they seemed to have their thumbs in a lot of pies.) I played Chicken with the lore team for 6 years, and now I'm going to likely look like I'm a gigantic knock-off.

Since Pictomancer is described as "putting imagination" into reality, I wonder if it will talk more about dynamis. I know it says that it's "mixed with aether", but this sounds like a great opportunity to flesh out dynamis some more. Edit: I hope they have some good lore for Solution 9, because it feels/looks very out of place in the FFXIV world.

The game already explained the cosmic exploration, and that was the combined crafter/gatherer quest, where they literally talk about how they want to visit other stars. Combine that with the obvious Tribal Alliance questline, and it is easy peasy. Especially since we aren't heading into a location WITH NO AETHER, we are heading to locations (presumably, cause we have to be able to live to build there!) with sufficient aether to contain life. Solution 9 will have a bit of a harder time, but I am hoping it is like the unnamed civilization in Xenogears that is where you find Emeralda. It was so advanced that it was too powerful, was brought to heel using nukes and bioweapons, and they went underground to try and survive but all died cause they couldn't have babies anymore.

I had a really weird possibility come to my mind regarding Solution Nine. I also see possible X and XIII influences there, not just VIII. My wild theory is that Solution Nine is where the City of Gold used to be. Someone discovered the lost city and either destroyed it and built Solution Nine in its place, or somehow converted the city into Solution Nine. Gold is used in circuitry and it would take a lot of hardware to run a city that advanced.

My personal little speculative head theory about Solution 9 is that it could be a giant supercomputer that emulates a datascape similar to how omega emulated the various scapes for the omega raids. Maybe a civilization in the past found omega, studied its abilities, and built a data world to protect themselves from an upcoming calamity (kind of like Neomuna from Destiny 2). Though, without any more info on the place, that's kinda as far as i've got with my theory.

You didn't include the Pictomancer trailer in your reaction but I'm HOPEFUL that you're going to speak about it in a video leading up to Dawntrail. Going off what was said along with both trailers, I've come up with a few ideas and theories myself. Firstly, I believe that instead of using actual paint the Pictomancer is ACTUALLY using liquefied aether crystals like we saw in the Matoya's Relict dungeon back in patch 5.4 of Shadowbringers. Also, looking at the animations of the job it seems likely to me that their artistic flourishes directly tie into the spells that their casting in a similar way to Red Mage with their sword swings.

This might be controversial but I'm... very apprehensive about Dawntrail. I don't mind that it's apparently gonna be a more lighthearted adventure, but... tonally it feels very inconsistent with the FFXIV that I fell in love with. I felt this shift a little bit with Shadowbringers and a lot in Endwalker but it honestly feels less like a rich MMO world and more like a shonen anime. Lore-wise it feels like they're ignoring a lot of what's been introduced before and keep introducing concepts for the sake of being cool, like what they did with Dynamis and what I'm afraid will happen with Solution 9. And I feel like they're just... abandoning the world that I fell in love with. It feels like they're completely abandoning Eorzea, ignoring Ilsabard, they completely rushed Garlemald's plot, and they seem to not care about any characters that aren't Scions. I'm especially upset that the Alliance leaders basically don't exist anymore despite them really making the world feel alive, and they all had such an important relationship to my WoL that I feel like doesn't exist anymore. If they found a way to connect Tural with Eorzea I would be happy but I feel like they aren't even gonna try. I just have to hope things change in future expansions to become more tonally consistent with the game I fell in love with.

We've solved literally everything that we could in Eorzea so there isn't much more we could do there, I agree that we should have spent maybe some more time with Ilsabard and Garlemald to help them rebuild, but they probably just want to fix things for themselves to maintain some form of independence. But I disagree that they're abandoning the world we loved. If anything, they're expanding upon it even further. We're not traveling to some other shard like with Shadowbringers nor are we jumping out into space, we're back to being an adventurer, discovering the rest of the world and helping the people that we can just like we did from ARR to Stormblood. Besides, it's not like they can just plop level 100+ zones next to the starter zones. Not to mention we couldn't even fit in any more major locations into Eorzea with all the space taken up by base game locations. While I would love to explore more of Othard and Ilsabard, we are getting a large part of Tural. We might even head to Myracidia next given its now on the map and been talked about so much.

@@D3th10rd There are loads of areas in the major cities that could be built on (Limsa especially), and we could have more story happening in previously seen areas of the world. I'd love to add more open world content to the three main realms of Eorzea for more concentrated activity as well. Storywise, we could explore more with the economic/political situations (my favorite aspects of the story) without going full shonen. I would looooove to have more storylines like the Doman refugee crisis or the Ala Mhigan salt trading negotiations, or more stuff with the beastmen and their evolving relationship with the races of man. I don't mind a little shonen, but the best parts of this game have always been the large scale affairs of nations. That said, I'm okay with a lighthearted "shonen" story for an expansion. Especially as I see this taking a darker turn in the second half (the Scions are gonna split down the middle in an upcoming Tural war, I'm predicting). I'd like to see a lot more of the foundation nations of Eorzea, and I'm afraid that we'll never get that... but I think this looks fine.

@@D3th10rd The thing is, Eorzea feels like a living, breathing world. They can always write more involving Eorzea and how their politics evolve with the presence of other nations such as when Ishgard and later Ala Mhigo joined the alliance. It's not just a "solve all their problems and then move on" kind of place. This is one of the reasons why I thought the Garlemald conclusion was so disappointing, since they only touched on the Alliance leaders and their relationship to Garlemald in the 6.1 final role quest, and I wish they would have expanded on the Alliance helping them, and Thavnair and Sharlayan developing a relationship with Eorzea. There's just a lot of potential for worldbuilding that they're missing out on.
