OK...I think you've just created my favourite video on KZbin, Thank you. Everything you said resonated with me on a pretty big level. I'm a recent owner of the moog modules and literally today I just got a notification to pick up my grandmother from the post, its a special day. I'm also a meditation teacher with a new youtube channel and the whole channel is meditation edutainment, however my guided meditation videos have started to have the moog sound in the background so the synths are comming into the channel slowly and I literally just recorded my latest vid yesterday and decided to put the modules on the shelf...pretty funny. Anyways, when you started talking about meditation I couldn't believe it, 100% agree with everything you said. But then you mentioned how a sequence can be like a chant, this blew my mind, I chant every morning and I'm using sequences as much as I can but I've never made the connection, but you're right, that feeling is there and its very similar. I subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago just because of your great vids on everything synths and moog, I was not expecting this. Thanks again mate, made my morning, I'm off to the post....Yeeeeeewwwww!!!

Mate, I think you just created my favourite comment on KZbin, Thank you so much buddy, and sorry I took so long to reply! Also it means quite a lot comeing from you as you clearly have quite a bit of expericene in meditation (I subbed by the way, good content mate). How is your grandmother??

Aahh so cool, thanks mate, glad you dig the channel. I'm loving yours, actually you and 2 other youtubers have now inspired me to start a music YT channel, im hoping I'll have something up and running soon, won't be as regular but will be something whenever creativity hits. Thanks so much for subbing, haha and yes my grandmother is doing great, thanks for asking🤣 She'll be doing a cameo soon on the new channel.

Yep, spot on. My original plan when I retired was to restrict myself to just my iPad, but after discovering virtual modular through MiRack the itch for hardware finally became too much to resist. And having to work within limitations really fosters creativity. I’m happily using both hardware and software, but there’s something special about being hands on with knobs, switches and cables, especially when you find the patch suddenly transforming from chaotic mess into something interesting. And I’m now finding that I do better work with MiRack when I restrict myself to a few modules instead of going bananas producing giant patches. The spirit of playfulness is also something I’ve found being amplified by all this. I’ve found that I now don’t try to produce “perfect” tracks, and increasingly record straight to stereo and accept any minor errors and imperfections if the thing turns out OK over all. And you are not alone in trying to resist the pull of Mavis GAS!

Im really glad it resonated! And I know what you mean on mirack, or VCV!!!

Totally agree, the last thing I want to do when I get home from work is use a mouse to tweak a synth.

Yep! Its annoying because sometimes Ive spent a bit on a softsynth, but during the week after work I have no motivation to look at a screen!

Simply love everything you said. Being in the moment with Hardware synths be it doing it yourself or just listening to someone else's creations and thinking about how you can incorporate that into your music is more relaxing and meditative than anything else I can think of. I actually have a library on KZbin of some of my favorite songs and I listen to them before bed and sleep so much better. Keep up the great work! I love all your videos.

I've been going through this a bit, myself. After years of being paralyzed by software environments, I decided to dive into the Moog Sound Studio 3 (Mother-32, DFAM, and Subharmonicon), then my wife surprised me with a Mavis when they were released. My brain has slowly been acclimating to this combo, but I haven't added any effects because the process of wiring into my laptop and choosing which delay or which reverb to use, and which channels to use it on, is just too much. I'm keeping an eye out on FB marketplace for some cheap guitar pedals (mostly delay and reverb) and hoping to find a decent score there. Eliminating choices has been key to my ability to enjoy this journey. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to more DFAM/M32/SubH videos!

First of all Chris mate, you have an awesome wife!! Secondly I find the way I do it is to always have my favourite delays and reverbs from the start. So what I mean by that is I have a template in ableton which gives me all my synths when I open it, saved to the template is a basic Valhalla reverb and Replika XT (NI) classic ping pong delay. then I just crack on. If I want to mess about with those after I do, but they don't really come into my process, and the money I save on fx I can get more cool synths, hope that helps!

Synths (hardware and software) changed a lot for me. They brought me into learning some music theory and after three years I bought a guitar ;-) Synths opend quite a few doors into the realm of sound.

What an honour! I love your Channel Martin! That's exactly the same as me! But I felt like Synths helped me understand sound so much better!
