Picked up a QSR for nice and cheap. Used to have a QS6 as the very first synth I bought. Brings back memories of it as pretty much all those sounds are there.

I recently picked up a QS8.1 for just 50 clams 'cause it wasn't working. I lucked out bigtime - all that was wrong was the power supply board was disconnected from the main board. Plug in a loose jumper, pull the keybed apart and clean a couple dead keys, and we're in business. This thing has an amazing array of sounds for a 90s rompler. It's a pad monster.

Very nice, totally American DBZ sound! Faulconer knew what he was doing, thanks for the demonstration. Sounds great! Wonder if they sell it in in VST format? DBZ sucks now in my honest opinion without this style.

2nd time I've heard you do some DKC stuff. Respect. That was extremely accurate.

Ah man, this takes me back; I bought one when they came out using my student loan cash :D

one of the best thing both for QS6 and QS8 is that you can add more samples (waves) trough PCMCIA cards (4 or 8MB). If you are lucky to find compatible PCMCIA Ram cards you can add almost unlimited extra sounds. The factory ones includes awsone pianos from alesis and many others

Damn that patch at 1:09 sounds like something straight out of a Crystal Method song or PSX-era video game. Love it

Haha, I JUST picked up a used QS6 yesterday specifically for the nostalgia of a 90s-era digital synth that you could coax massive soundscapes out of with simple chords. Is that a stock patch at 0:36 for the DK Country underwater riff? I was beside myself when I discovered the slap bass and mouth pops of "Sign Felt" which is program 114 on my user bank!

Very underrated synth with very unique sound. I own the rack version ;-)

As do I! This keyboard version was borrowed. Not very fun to film a rack haha

Picked up one of these today at a thrift store for a hundred bucks… went straight to the music store and bought a sustain pedal and some headphones. 😂

Do you have the sysex for the first patch, and the one that starts at 2:21

Nice. I gigged one of these for years, sometimes together with a quirky old Poly 6 or a Poly 800. I traded a KORG M1 to get it, I wanted something smaller. I thought ROMplers were the coolest things in the world at the time. The QS6 still works, probably not really worth selling at this point.

That patch at 3:08 I need that on my QSR!

That's a common issue for me. While you may get one for 100. In my country are asking 400 bucks!!! 🤷♂️

I had a QS7 for 13 years and used it extensively, but only its fantastic synthesized sounds, not the ones trying (and failing) to replicate real instruments..
