The first reaction is Schotten-Baumann amination using acetyl chloride in pyridine. The second reaction is Leuckart-Wallach or reductive amination, where a ketone group reaction with a amine group, generate a imine group, the imine group reduce with sodium cyanoborohydride producing fentanyl.

What method in this video? Janssen method? Siegfried method? Gupta method?

Very interesting, tho I feel the Siegfried route is a bit easier. Very interesting to see alternative synthesis

English, he just has a strong accent and the room has poor acoustics. If he was mic'ed properly with a good mic I suspect he would be much easier to understand for people not familiar with his particular accent.

@@bp968 weird, I understood him perfectly fine, I never found it to be as strong as most I have heard, though I am Scottish so I might have a better ability at understanding different accents compared to most other English speaking countries.

@@Suitswonderland it wasnt the accent, it was the rooms accustics. Unfortunately your ability to understand it isn't helpful for the OP or others. It's broadly similar to me telling a blind person i can see fine. Awesome for the person who can see, less useful for the blind person. As a teacher his intention is most likely for his material to be as clear and understandable as possible. He also clearly intended this for english speakers or he would have spoken in his native tongue. Yet i would say the vast majority of people trying to listen to this are expending at least some effort to simply understand what he's saying. A better room and more importantly a better mic would have greatly improved this video and his ability to get the information across. As for dialects, i never had too much trouble with scottish accents/dialects but some of those regional UK dialects might as well be another language. Here is a ted talk and notice how much better the mic is (though he is easy to understand, not least because he's my cousin, lol). kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGLCo2uVhLiViNE

@@bp968 the audio was fine for me, just because you are not used to being able to hear and understand words from a man then get defensive does not mean I was trying to gloat that I could understand if you understood the Glaswegian accent and the Indian and Pakistani communities of Scotland this is just the reason I have no issue, and his audio set up was not the best but if you have good audio you can hear just fine, not everyone can have expensive audio equipment. Why even link a ted talk, the amount of money going into that equipment, good luck with your career but you should not judge this video so harshly, nether the person making the original comment, which seemed pretty offensive since it's clearly English.
