Great tips. One of my favorite things to do with synths is hit the synth bus with a mid/side EQ. Dip the mids/low mids in just the middle channel a bit. This gives the sides a perceived lift in volume and frees up some real estate in your mid-range.

What kind of plugin is this at 0:59 where you can create samples out of audio files and shift the notes?

Depending on DAW - may not even be a plugin. Studio One, for example, has the tools like what he uses within its editing panes. However, if you want more in-depth - look at Samplers. Your DAW probably has one already, and they usually allow you to manipulate the hell out of any sound you put in. They also allow you (usually) to create midi instruments with the samples you put in 😁

You really should ask Howard Benson to make a video about his process of using synths in a track. I know that he doubles guitar parts with synths etc. But I like to know the details of his workflow and his philosophy on that.
