This is an original solo piece Synyster Gates created just for the masterclass. Not only does the solo sound realllllllly cool, but its simply amazing. I don't think a lot of people realize just how talented he is at guitar. It was an incredible experience and such an honor to be in his masterclass. Not only is he my favorite guitarist but i believe he is one of the best guitarists of all time. He had two syn customs with the REV inlays onstage but only played one. He said they were the ones from the "so far away" video. Please enjoy.

Avenged Sevenfold is one of those bands that gets a lot of hate, but in reality is one of the truest, most amazing metal bands out there. People's main complaint is they're not "metal" enough. Syn's one of the best metal guitarists out there.

Metal aren't just trash, metlcore, deathcore etc peoples want to hear. But heavy metal, melodic metal, or prog metal also a metal. Their latest album is considered as prog metal, but their second album was metalcore. And, Was their first album didn't metal enough for metal heads? It's confused me. Even their ballads are metal enough for me.

What people don't realize is that guitar solos are slowly dying out. The world of metalcore and chugging away at the 6th string are taking over (i still enjoy them as well though). Haters can bitch and complain about synyster. I know he's not the best, not the cleanest, etc, but he has a unique and definitive sound to him and is a pretty diverse guitarist if one has listened to all his work. He does way more than chug on the 6th string, and nowadays, that's becoming more and more rare. That is why I respect and enjoy listening to him.

andrew ehalt I think Syn is among the best in his own way. In the world of shredding, I think he is maybe top 5? In general, I’d say top 15? I think if he did more slow, emotional playing, then I’d say top 10, but he shreds for the most part with the occasional slow song.

He's actually one if the most knowledgable and skilled guitarist of the modern day he learned from blues, jazz and classical. He's extremely smart and extremely skilled so don't hate just because you can't play like him learn to respect people and open your eyes and ears he may play a little different than your used to but his skill I would say is on par with some of the gods he may not quite be there but if you told him to play something he would play it.

People bitch about how Synyster isn't a clean guitarist, but you know who he plays better than? All of the big four of thrash metal's lead guitarists.

Technically he's better than Friedman, but I'd have to say in terms of musicality and creativity Marty takes the cake. No hate though, I absolutely love both

Better than chris broderick? No way haha. Syn is good, even if syn read your comment he would punch you in the face for being ignorant. You have no idea who the big four is and their contributions to metal.
@BloggingForChange
@BloggingForChange 9 жыл бұрын
moises salcido Chris Broderick isn't in Megadeth anymore, and he isn't their original lead guitarist. If I didn't know who the "big four" are, why would I refer to them as the Big Four? I've seen Metallica live, Anthrax twice, Slayer three times. I'm very familiar with the big four.
@moisessalcido1283
@moisessalcido1283 9 жыл бұрын
You said the big fours lead guitarist. You never mentioned current or passed members. There is no way syn is better than Poland or friedman. You do understand without these bands and members, There wouldn't be a7x. Look at their home videos with the rev. I'm not thrashing syn, he is great but to say he is better than the lead guitarists in the big for is ridiculous. What you can do is compare him to Michael Paget and Jacky vincent. They are all from this generation so it would be to compare these instead.
@BloggingForChange
@BloggingForChange 9 жыл бұрын
moises salcido What does it matter if they're from the same generation? Syn is leagues better than Kirk Hammett, Scott Ian, and Kerry King. He's technical on a level that they never could be. I'd put him even with Marty Friedman. He's influenced by all of them, but he's surpassed nearly everyone in that genre. There are other guitarists in this generation that he pales in comparison to. Tosin Abasi and Guthrie Govan come to mind.

I didn't think this solo was great musically. But i would like to have tabs or sheet of it since the piece uses a lot of different techniques. I DO think however he's solos in A7X's songs are up there with Petrucci's work, i don't get why only a handfull of guitarists play/write solos that sings and is a much part of the song as the vocals. I'm sick and tired of pentatonic/bluesy solos. Syn and Petrucci all the way!

Well yeah as far as music goes it wasn't the best. But ya gotta keep in mind that SYN himself said in that class to never write a solo like that. It was only to do a solo with different techniques to show the people in the class.

Synyster Gates: The man who forever ruined parallel fifths. Can't you just leave that cheesiness out of your fucking master class solos either?
@nc0607
@nc0607 10 жыл бұрын
What do you mean he ruined it? It's not cheesy at all. Parallel 5ths happens a lot and it sounds cool. The only place parallel 5ths doesn't sound good is some voice leading.
@Zimx02
@Zimx02 10 жыл бұрын
Sliip Gates Maybe if you just got into music. I know parallel fifths happen a lot. But they happen too much. It's part of the reason why the metal community sees metalcore as a big joke for talentless and tasteless dipshits that just began using guitars. Parallel fifths do not sound good on the basis of just being parallel fifths, that's reasoning for impressionable idiots. It's all about doing them in the right time if you're actually going to be _creative_, and this means sometimes not doing them at all. Syn plasters them all over his work, probably because of tasteless fans going "oh durrr hurr r omg 2 guitars playen at teh saem time that is so kewl dis guys are genies!"

Yeah exactly. The sustainiac reacts after at least a half a second later and if you leave it on the tone gets messy because all the strings you are not dumping are gonna ring out as a High pitched harmonic so what he does is called a tap harmonic.
