The mosaic of minorities add up to 15-20% at most. 2 million, give or take area dead or of unknown fate from the majority. A further 9-13 million of the majority are refugees. How many of the minorities have suffered since the majority (the majority of Syrians) have been liberated. Give us all a break and !@#%@#%@#%@$^#$^@$!@# off!

I live in an area where all ppl are from the Alawite sect, no one is afraid and no one has been harmed, on the contrary, they knew that the regime tried to scare them from their Syrian Muslim brothers just to remain president of Syria.

I feel sorry for Youssef. It's candid how profoundly traumatised and deeply scarred he has become, by his many years spent in jail, feeling and seeing the daily atrocities commited against him and his fellow prisioners. However, and despite the many faults of the al-Assad's family long and corrupt regime, they were a rare example of secular dictatorship, in a region fraught with religious extremists and fanatics of all ilks. Having jihadists take over the country is not an improvement, let alone a better medium to long term solution for Syria.

Most of these rebels are our brothers and uncles who left after Assad's siege to Idlib, preparing to liberate all of Syria in order to reunite everyone. They are keen on their religion to refine themselves and to become better individuals in serving the community. The majority of the Syrian people are optimistic and united in their love for them. They have instructions from the leadership to ensure the safety of civilians and their properties, especially minorities, due to the fear instilled by the Assad regime in their minds. However, the chaos happening now is due to the evasion of those who committed massacres, hiding among civilians and betraying the rebels. It is also a result of the exploitation of the situation by corrupt individuals, thieves, and anyone who does not want stability for Syria. We are tired of division, lagging behind other countries, and being oppressed as Muslims in our own country. We want to live together, with every person free in their beliefs, under a law that protects everyone's rights and holds the aggressor accountable. The new government is striving with all its efforts to uplift Syria, and we criticize it for its mistakes while supporting it in enhancing security and stability.

Talking in the comments about violations against minorities in Syria is not true. I live in an area where most of the people are Alawites. No one has been subjected to any assault or abuse because of their sect or religious beliefs. There are some violations against people of different sects or religions in different regions and This usually happens in the post-regime phase of any country. In Syria, we expected a bloody civil war after the fall of the regime because of the ethnic and religious diversity of the Syrian people. And of course we are lucky that this did not happen.

This might be weird to hear for you, but many of the interviewees are foriegn fighters who came originally to join ISIS before ot split with Al Qaeda, and found themselves after few splits with HTS. Anyone who speaks Arabic can easily spot them.
