This hit me hard. As someone who had a brother with epilepsy, seizures are fucking terrifying from an outside perspective. Even with medication and medical treatments to reduce the frequency and intensity of seizures, there's still a chance of them happening and they could get intense. There's no stopping the seizures when they happen and all you can do is try to comfort them and keep them from hurting themselves. I think it was worse for my brother because he was mentally disabled from bacterial meningitis when he was a baby. He never told us how he felt about the seizures or the medicine he had to take, he just dealt with them. I can't imagine how he felt after each seizure. i miss him

I am a 28 year old man who had my first random seizure 9 months ago at work. I’ve since had 3 and all have a happened completely at random, I’ve woken up in the back of an ambulance 3 times now after having a seizure during my lunch breaks, once while out of the office and wife while in. This makes me feel like I’m not the only person in the world dealing with this. My life’s essentially flipped itself upside down, but it’s amazing to know that I’m not alone on this journey

But 80+ have been within 30 minutes of me waking up. Sometimes seconds after opening my eyes. Sometimes multiple seizures in a row.. right now I'm being pushed into piles of meds and tests, with no results :/ it's just nice to know im not alone... My biggest hobby is building/fixing cars and I fear that I'll lose the ability to drive if I keep ending up in the hospital. Much love guys , ill keep pushing for progress ❤❤❤

I’ve had 2 seizures in my life thus far. My doctor who diagnosed me with Crohn’s disease thought that putting me on a very large dose of prednisone for a long period, causing neurological damage. After my first one, I woke up in the ambulance. I had bit my tongue during it, and there was a decent sized bite surrounding my tongue. My back also felt HORRIBLE because my mom was performing CPR. After maybe 5 years later, they took me off of it after seeing that neurologically I was okay. A year after, I went into my second. I woke up early in the morning to change my ileostomy and got into the showers. I had violent spasms, and eventually fainted in the shower for a split second. One moment I’m standing, the next I’m laying in the tub. I crawled out while my parents called 911. I thought that went I fell I hit my head (which thankfully I didn’t) and thought that I was gonna die because of how hard I hit my head and that I was about to seize. After the second one, I developed a huge fear of seizures. That was the scariest moment of my life because of the thought of death that went through my head and saying my goodbyes to my parents while I laid on the floor. Seizures are serious and beyond terrifying.

I've never related to a vr chat player this much, I could legit go to the FBI and say "this guy is an alternate universe version of me" and they'd agree, like, I have epilepsy, no idea what triggers it as of right now, I started having seizures (from what my mom says) around 2-3 years old, ik it sounds made up but I swear its not. My mom didn't even know it was a seizure, all she saw was my face turning blue. I never had a seizure since then, UNTIL, I was either 12-14??? I remember being in my living room watching TV, then I had flashes of me puking into a cooking pot by my fireplace, I snapped out of it and my mom said "do you remember saying the TV was blurry? " which I say no, bc I had a seizure ROFL. It was a phew months later, we were going to Walmart I think, I was in the car with my 2 sisters waiting in the garage for our parents, and had another seizure, this time my parents called an ambulance that had a fire truck if I remember correctly, I remember seeing the guy in the ambulenelce, he was a rounder man, bald, with glasses, he saw I was seeing him and just said "just relax". I had woken up in a hospital with my family and grandparents there. it's so weird bc you can't really explain a seizure, for my case, I have no idea what causes mine, my neurologist said it wasn't flashing lights, I even went to a concert unphased, a seizure is basically you sleeping, while your body freaks out flailing and sometimes vomiting, it's really weird

That's a cute avatar. Seizures are pretty scary. I take Lamictal which is for seizures and BP2, the latter of which I have. And while the side effect of way worse memory definitely affects me, the feeling of not having occasional intense and irrational outburts of emotion, and my head isn't constantly filled with so many thoughts, is definitely worth that side effect. Even if forgetting most things a lot more really sucks. It's true how people can stop taking meds that help them because it feels like it isn't doing anything. I only realized when I forgot to take them a few times and I instantly had a horrible day. That awful familiar feeling of everything being extremely annoying and I started arguments all day over nothing. I don't think I was ever depressed, I think I was always struggling with that for the first like 20 years of my life. It's been a much better time to have such a calmer brain even at again, the expense of my memory. Which I think used to be pretty good. Anyways, I hate that the school system thought I had generic ADHD. It made schooling horrible. I think at this point of my life, I could probably learn things better. I would sit in front of a simple like 60 question 3rd grade level math sheet for an hour and not do it. I know I could do it but I would get so stressed out that I couldn't start. I think it didnt help that nobody really helped me one on one, which is what I needed. Anyways, all of this to say: meds can really truly help honestly. See what your options are if you're struggling and best of luck to you.

Its such a hard thing to explain to people who dont have them what its like, but also I know the perspective of watching it happen to somebody must be more terrifying than just blacking out. I started randomly having them after I turned 21 and have only had more when I contract covid. I got vaccinated because I literally remember being stuck home with my roommate, waking up at 1am sweating my ass off/freezing at the same time. I went to go pee and I woke up in the floor, naked, and had landed face first off the toilet. I remember that night as the night I was expecting to die because every 10min or so id have a seizure. I just laid in my roommates floor beside his bed and cried every time I woke up. Thanks for this video syrmor, it hits home.

I started having them at 14, & dr's could find no reason. I'm now 50, & haven't had one in 10 yrs, also for no reason. This guy explains how i felt coming out of them. It's a very surreal feeling. I would totally be "out," too. You're there but you're not. It's like 2 seconds went by & like 5 yrs went by, at the same time. I will be on meds the rest of my life; without them, i will definitely have 1. I've hurt my head & every part of my body so many times from falls f/seizures, i lost track. Always bit my tongue & took 2 wks for it to heal. A lot of bruises over the years, even a severe burn on my hand f/having a seizure right at the stove & my hand landed on the "on" burner. I still get twitches every once in awhile though. For others: please never put anything in someone's mouth during a seizure. Try & lay them on their side & put something soft under their head. Let the seizure play out, & don't hold them down. Stay calm. They can be frightened & confused when coming out of a seizure.

having a seizure disorder really sucks, around the same time as this fella 16-17 or so i had a grand mal seizure randomly. I knew i had a history of absence seizures when i was 4 or 5 but everything went away until i was 16-17. got put on Keppra and had a few more seizures happen within months of eachother. Worst part was having a seizure in gym class because i think we were playing american football and out of no where i dropped like a sack of potatos. woke up really confused very disoriented cant stand up for the first few minutes after a seizure because youll just keep falling down, legs very weak, so as schools do they call an ambulance send me to a hospital and stick my family with the ambulance bill. great. i had a few more seizures scattered by time until i started really focusing on taking my pills everyday and not skipping any doses. im 20 now havent had a seizure in a little over a year. I feel like the stress really does cause seizures in some people. like the guy in the video i wish i was flashing lights epileptic because thats so much easier to avoid than just having a shitty day and then randomly almost biting off your own tongue while unconscious.

Hello, person who also has epilepsy. From what I can tell with what DaKcBomb is saying, it seems like he has the same type of epilepsy as me which is called 'Idiopathic Epilepsy'. Contrary to the naming, being an idiot doesn't cause the seizures but if you like to make jokes about it like me then you can joke about it meaning that. Essentially it means that there is no set cause for the seizures, the doctors and neuroligists have no idea what can trigger the seizures and therefore there isn't any real way to stay safe unfortunately. When I got diagnosed, my family put lots of soft rugs in my room so that if I did have a fit then I would fall onto a rug and not a wooden floor but honestly speaking, just being outside is kind of scary for me. If I ever have to move out of the way of someone when walking on the path and walk on the side closest to the road my brain always goes to "If I have a fit right now, I could fall into the road infront of a car and literally just die, that's it, I'm dead". Massive respect to DaKcBomb again for living with it and learning to drive with it, something I'm personally too scared to do. Keep it up man, you've genuinely inspired me a little!

Ngl, I still think I'd take seizures over panic attacks. I can't say exactly how different it would be, but I CAN personally attest that a panic attack makes you actually feel like you might die. To a T, I can tell you exactly how they would progress because I had to become painfully acquainted with them for a few months. First comes numbness in my hands in feet, then sweating, then numbness of my abdomen and face, then my tongue would feel three times the normal size and my throat felt like it was closing, then comes the waves of nausea and the spins like I was faaaar too drunk, and then finally muscle contraction. And that's FULL BODY muscle contraction, my hands would curl up so bad I couldn't use them, my toes would curl so hard my feet hurt just from the tension, I would inevitably end up in the fetal position as my leg and torso muscles contracted me into a ball, and it's at about this point where I realize I can't breathe and the hyperventilation gets worse. Before I got diagnosed, I had a couple times where I genuinely feared slowly losing control of my body while driving without a single thing I could do to stop it. It was personally fighting my own mind and body for autonomous control for maybe a half hour that felt like an eternity. Compare that to blacking out when it happens, and I'd much rather have blacked out.

i had my first seizures at 9, they were infrequent, and around when i turned 13, they got way worse. i started having seizures every night due to stress, and i would be confused and scared when i woke up. waking up on the floor, even bleeding sometimes i remember i was having a slumber party with my friend, and they were stressed out about something, i don’t remember what it was because i was, well, dissociating and having a seizure. i know that during it, i was fighting really hard to concentrate, despite being so confused and scared. i lost sight of where i was, like i was underwater gasping for life, almost there, but not quite. i basically woke up, still convulsing, and stood up, telling them the news without even thinking about it. i was so cold and shaky while everything cane back to me. i still had seizures after that, and still have them sometimes, but i’m alright.
