Yeah okay, but see like, the reason Serj left the group originally was exactly that: after Mezmerize and Hypnotize, Serj left specifically because Daron had taken over singing/writing lyrics which, other than minor keyboard parts here and there (some more noticeable and important than others) and musical credits, was Serjs role in the band. I mean, look back at their first 3 records: the vast majority of the lyrics are Serjs and while Daron obviously does sing a good amount on those albums, it is very very clear to say that Serj was the lead singer and Daron was more of a secondary singer (note, I didn’t say back up singer, I acknowledge his voice was always somewhat prominent), but with Mez/Hyp Daron clearly took more and more control lyrically and vocally. Obviously Serj is gonna get bored when another member of the band overtakes creative control entirely. Maybe if Daron also allowed Serj to try and write more music than vocals/lyrics as well, then Serj probably would have been more invested, but Daron clearly did not do that. In fact, Mez/Hyp actually feature the LEAST amount of musical credit to Serj than on any other album (again, his musical contributions were very small in comparison to Darons, but still). But to my main points, Serj originally left specifically because he didn’t feel like he was invested in the music and didnt want to be a part of a project that he wasn’t genuinely excited by and made his own music, and what happened? Never ending demand that he come back to the band and make another album with them. So what? When he plays the music that genuinely makes him happy as an artist, you have fans screaming for you to stop that and go back and play with SOAD; and then when he goes back to SOAD, you get mad and say he shouldn’t be back because he’s not giving it his all. It’s like, he can’t win regardless of what he does. I honestly agree with what your saying, it just bothers me how fans demanded new music for years and then when he finally gives in, it’s not good enough. Like what the hell? (I also want to say, I’m not entirely blaming things on Daron, and something I think they probably both acknowledge is that there really cannot be SOAD without Serj, which I respect Daron for; listening to both of their solo musical projects really shows just what each of them brought to the table with SOAD: Serjs amazingly potent lyrics and unusual vocal delivery and Darons ear for killer grooves, tight riffs, and song structuring.)

Serj always wanted out even during the toxicity era. We are lucky we even have them playing at all. I still remember when they cam back from their hiatus people were bitching about Serj having a high pitched voice and in 2013 you could tell he was trying his best to get those screams in, but probably just couldn’t follow through.

@marianoobregon65832 жыл бұрын

Fuck everyone hating on Serj; saying like, “oh wow, he doesn’t seem very interested or motivated, why is he even with the band anymore?!?! Etc etc” He originally left the group specifically because he was not as interested in their music, and as such didn’t really wanna work on a project that he only feels half hearted about, and for years fans demanded he come back and he make another album with them, and then now when he has finally given in and recorded something new with them, those same fans are saying he shouldn’t be there if he doesn’t actually wanna be there, and his singing sucks, etc. I agree, he shouldn’t be playing with them unless he really wants to, but when he actually did that fans were outraged. I can’t blame him, I’d be bored and uninterested in making music as the main singer / lyricist of a band when one of the other members overtakes creative control and minimizes the amount of singing / lyric writing when that’s my main role in the band. If Daron would just agree to give Serj more creative control back, he’d probably happily record another album with them. But alas, Darons goddamned ego has to get in the way. Not to say I think Darons lyrics and singing are bad, but like if he’s gonna take over more and more in that department, which prior to Mez/Hyp was his main role in the band, how the hell can you expect Serj to be totally motivated?
@TheEliminator19922 жыл бұрын
Let's put it in simple terms: Serj is still an angry composer but he's mellowed out. He still makes great, angry music but it's not heavy metal like we all want it to be. And the band doesn't want to move on from him because, other than being a family relative to John, he's unique and if he goes, System of a Down will never be the same again. They'll be like Alice In Chains: They won't suck, but they won't be the same.
@TheWonderfulBlake2 жыл бұрын
@@TheEliminator1992 Sure. Well actually, I think they very well could be the same, if they were the same as they were in 2002 and 2003. Serj has expressed some nostalgia for that period of the bands work, and personally, though 95% of the songs from Mez/Hyp are certainly on the same level and just as fantastic as their early work, I think it’s clear that they were probably at their peak of quality creative output with the whole band feeling apart of the collective and truly giving a piece of themselves to combine and create what we know as System of a Down at that time. I think I’ve read or heard Serj in an interview say on Toxicity and Steal the lyrics were probably about 65% his lyrics and singing and 35% Daron, and as well, those two albums probably have the most musical contributions from Serj (even if they’re still massively outnumbered overall by Daron’s contributions). I think if Daron would just offer to give up some of the creative control he took from Serj on Mez and Hyp, Serj would happily go back, feeling free to use System as a true creative outlet for creating the music he wants to create with them.
@TheEliminator19922 жыл бұрын
@@TheWonderfulBlake They both need to leave their egos at the studio's front door and cooperate. I blame both for the drama.
@TheWonderfulBlake2 жыл бұрын
@@TheEliminator1992 I guess you are right; Daron needs to allow Serj to have more input on music, and Serj needs to be a little less concerned about who’s singing and writing what. Like in a perfect world, the song would be king, and you do whatever you can to make the song even better, regardless of any personal egotistical BS. However, even given that, I think I still lean just a little bit more to Serjs side overall; though, what you’re saying is absolutely true, Serj certainly has a hand in this too, and there’s many things and compromises he probably could have conceded into without it really affect his involvement in the band.

I've seen them twice live, in 2011 and 2013, just like I did with Rage in 2008 and the RHCP with Frusciante in 2007 : These are memories I will forever cherish. Genocidal Humanoidz has been a blessing for me, it's a masterpiece. It's just a shame that (for now), they don't really do it justice live, especially for Serj's singing.

@@romaretaylor9953 I did see it too, I don't remember now, but I think I still wasn't convinced. Still too fast and not a fan of Serj's self-conscious and monotous delivery.

Carajo, Serj transmite tanto aburrimiento en su forma de estar en el escenario, ya no siento que tenga el alma para seguir en SOAD, nunca pense decir esto pero deberían buscar un nuevo cantante

love this band because it is legendary to 00s music .... but you hate me for saying this; - they do not like each other in the band ( they do not even speak to each other) - they all need money... - they are a ghost of the original sytem of a down spirit - most of them doing it for the money anyway ... without any motivation to continue therefore I rather enjoy a limp bizkit still sucks record
@romaretaylor99532 жыл бұрын
1) they do like each other 2) they’re rich they don’t NEED the money even if they hung it up tomorrow they’re gonna be making royalties of their songs for the rest of their lives 3) comparing any band to when they were coming up is unfair because that’s when bands are the most hungry
Serj looking more and more like Will Ferrell everytime i see him lol

Serj doesnt look in shape ...he Is almost bored....he Is my favorite Singer why the fuck everytime he perform this bad? It Is almost impossible to defend him Edit: he had a surgery,so maybe with the next concerts...idk we Will see Defending him it's almost a full time job 🤣

He had a surgery, I think he can't really go be energetic and intense so that's why we see him like that. No much movement. He is still recovering

Well only john and shavo work out as far as i know. But ill give him a break since its the first live show and he might need to adjust, also it didnt sound all that different from the studio version.
@thanasismatzi85402 жыл бұрын
@@zaynekvam9404 nah, it sounded way off in the chorus and the bridge, for a newly released song. i think serj might be a little sick though, he couldn't hit some high notes in this show which he otherwise can.

Daron you are fat but you sing and play fairwell as it is, serj might be unmotivated and sorry guys but there are some misleadings of rhythm in the first verse it's alright I think for being their first time playing it live then could happen this mistakes but they rocked completely 🤟🤟🤟🤟
