This Is My Favorite Alarm! I Got One For Christmas and I Really Love it!

03:16 And also in Germany, the tone would be a swept frequency tone (reverse slow whoop but faster) or the DIN (Believe it stands for: Downward In Noise) tone like for example a tone sweep of 1200 Hz to 500 Hz in 1.5 seconds with no short silence interruptions per sweep

The bell tone is with the MAEH (Multi-Alert Sounder Strobe With Electromechanichal Tone) sounder strobes, the MASS's counterpart with different tones inclding the factory default electromechanical tone.

My intermediate school back in 2004 had these in hi-lo in Ohio. The only thing that was different is that they had these strange projector bull horns attached to the alarm that allowed the alarm noise to be projected further. It looked similar to an old simplex alarm that was jerryrigged on these. I think it was done to cut down on the actual number of alarms in the building. The thing I remember was that those things echoed through the halls really strangely. They were replaced the year after I left, because I don't think the fire marshal was too pleased with the strange jerryrigging job the district did on them. They were the loudest/creepiest alarms I have ever experienced. And my high school had Spectralert Advances, and way too many of them at that.

f1fan112 huh! Interesting! I’ve never heard of a projector being mounted on these. Thanks for sharing!
@f1fan1126 жыл бұрын
@@WheeloveFireAlarms trust me I don't think they were supposed to be mounted to them. I distinctly remember the projector's covered the strobes. It was clearly a really crappy installation job. By 2005 I believe they had Gentex Commander 3's in the building because of it.
@f1fan1126 жыл бұрын
@@WheeloveFireAlarms I'm also remembering the fact that District had to install strobe only alarms around the building because the strobe was covered by the projector. I want to say it had classic spectralert strobes around the building. But I know the horns had strobes on them as well because you'd look in the center of the projector and see it flashing... I also remember it malfunctioning a lot. In my fourth grade year I distinctly remember having four fire drills a month because the system would keep going off. I haven't been in that building since 2004. However I think replacing the system probably was a good thing. I do know what ever it has has Commander 3s on it

If I were to redesign the mass, I would make the strobe multi-candela, make the tone controls a rotary switch just like other Honeywell fire alarm products, have a jumper instead of break tabs, make it fully sync-able even in 2 wire mode, and add an 800Hz T3 tone.
@joeycaridi3030 Жыл бұрын
And I would also use an LED strobe, there would be ceiling mount models and a snap-on mounting bracket feature like the Advances and L-Series use

The Clips can Be Removed but it Isn’t Permanent. But I do Like the Idea of Redesigning the MASS, They are Very Amazing.

@flyoversirens37044 жыл бұрын
I think if they ever redesigned it they should add code 3 being that the biggest selling point for the MASS is compatibility across nations. If it had a code 3 of any kind I think it would be a perfect alarm.

That is the one issue I have with the MASS is that gigantic strobe with all of its gnarly flash tubes and reflectors. It draws your attention way too easily when it's sitting there silent.

Those to me are the scariest fire horns ever. Especially when they are set to continuous low tone, and sound off along with other horns in a building, with the same setting. They date back to the late 80s or early 90s for those that are wondering.
