It's late, but just wanted to say that this is a great LP. I really like the behind the scenes tidbits.

With the new remake out I wanted to watch a playthrough of the original Sytem Shock and found your playlist and I love it so far. The hints and details about enemies, item locations and area quirks that you drop so casually alongside the explanation of lore and even knowing the initals/names of the devs that the weapons were named after just shows the knowledge you have for this game. I know this chanel has been inactive for a bit but if you see this comment I want you to know that I can really sense the love and devotion you feel for this game and I love that you wanted to share that with us. I will absolutely be watching through your System Shock 2 playthrough when I've finished with this one.

Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words. It's one of my favourite games, so it was fun to do some research into the background before recording the LP so I could give a lot of the lore and useful info to try and make it a bit more interesting to people watching.

I'd argue SHODAN wouldn't be expecting that. To run, yes. To stay, fortify and kill everything headed his way? Not so much :D

I was having a hard time deciding who I'm going to watch play through the remake, but after watching your playthroughs of this and 2 I think you get the vote.

Really cool to see how the remake recreates all of this so beautifully.

I finished up the remake myself for the first time last week. It does certain aspects really well, but I wasn't a fan of some of the other design choices. There's supposedly a big patch on the way that improves a lot of things - including endgame - so I'll probably give it another shot then.

Love this game! Been meaning to do a playthrough myself! So ahead of it's time. I remember playing the demo waaaay back when I was a kid and I didn't really get it. Replaying it years later I got it. Such a good game.

Same. For me, she's one of the creepiest villains ever created. Can't wait to go up against her again in the remake!

I just stumbled across this LP. Think I'll be watching it through. Having studied the released code recently; The audio system was actually quite astounding for the time. It was an AI system that would change the music based on the players location and what they were doing. If you were fighting, it would play a more action-driven version of the music. If you were working on a puzzle, it would change to a more fitting version. Then, if you were working on a puzzle while being attacked, it would smoothly transition between the two, based on what the player was doing at that particular moment. This was actually a system that was later expanded on in the Thief series.

Thanks, I hope you enjoy it! I knew something about the audio code and its ability to change based on what was going on. It was incredible for the time :D

Hmmm... the name "Origin" rings a bell... I mean, before the intro I see a screen which says, "Origin - An Electronic Arts company" and... isn't that, coincidentally, the company which gave EA's Origin platform its name?
@AthrunTalan
@AthrunTalan 4 жыл бұрын
You could say that. Personally I think it's a bit of an insult to Origin Systems since EA did it's usual 'buy the studio then shut them down' trick that they perfected so well during the '90s and '00s :(

Remake? (note to self keep an eye out for that) really happy to hear about that, I've never played this or watched an LP of it but my opinion so far? I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing. Kinda shocked this didn't do so well against doom, ive only played a few doom games..... I wasn't too impressed with the few I did play, System shock is definitely superior,Might pick it up give it ago sometime.

Nightdive have shown themselves to be pretty competent so far with respecting the older games, and the updates I get as a Kickerstarter are pretty promising. Expect me to do a Let's Play of it when it finally arrives! Hope you enjoy the rest of the playthrough bud. As an engine System Shock was a lot more advanced, but without mouselook and a few other improvements brought by the Enhanced Edition the screen was cluttered and the controls clunky. Still a masterpiece to me though, even past all that.
