After watching the original intro I’m kind of disappointed that they didn’t keep Shodan narrating. It’s was kind of a cool twist when the voice changed after the he hacks her.

There's a glitch-frame at 2:24 because the hacker has Trioptimum software installed. Which is why the vision temporarily stutters.

This is one of the type of story driven immersive sim gameplay that we always love tbh. We keep control the character POV all the time in all situation. Barely any cinematic cutscenes. Another example of story driven without a cinematic focused are of course, Half Life, Portal, Thief, Dishonered, E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy, etc, etc because the story and audio log conversation are already been design around the gameplay in free roam without been interupt by cinematic scene that would reduced and wasted our playtime

When I did, my mind was blown: somebody at Nightdive knows that movie, because that song wasn't put there casually. I dunno about this intro, feels a bit drawn out. It's cool that they're trying to build up Diego from the beginning, but i feel like they're forgetting that he's not a smoothtalking super-villain and is kind of an idiot really. Dunno how i feel about hacker being portrayed as some sort of tough guy who's after military implants either. From the OG intro he always struck me as just a kid poking around where he shouldn't have and getting in way over his head. What's that, whiskey on his table? He'd be drinking pepsi or something. The fact that he hacks Shodan in less than 30 seconds of real time doesn't help either. In the original intro it seemed like he could've been at it for hours and Diego was like that friend of yours who's not good with computers and asked you to reinstall windows or something, so he's just kinda standing there and watching you. And the hacking sequence itself doesn't even look as cool as a cutscene from a 1994 game. More shots of New Atlanta is cool i guess. I won't get tired from future cyber cities. Tho that part of the intro did overstay it's welcome a bit. There is some good stuff here, but it's missing alot of marks.

Agreed - I almost hoped we'd get a little more time on Earth (similar to SS2) where you'd walk to your apartment and maybe get a bit of a better understanding of the world and Diego's presence. The non-playable hovercar ride felt a bit too drawn out, and I wasn't a fan of how truncated hacking SHODAN was (the scene makes Diego look like an idiot for not being able to run a handful of commands). Maybe there will be further refinements before the game comes out.

I didn't notice it on my first playthrough until now. You can see the moment SHODAN awakens and believes herself to be a god when her face goes from blue to green and the synapses expand, just as The Hacker is anesthetized.

As technically impressive as this is, its what happens when someone with no cinematic understanding tries to change the original intro, just doesn't have the same impact and things that needed to be cut are instead shown. Might as well have changed the visual style to be more modern. Also I thought it made more sense for Edward Diego to be one of these shark fast talking businessmen who don't know how things work under the hood and just want things done. This Edward Diego doesn't make much sense: He's like some chain-smoking gloomy butler who scheme behind his employers backs , doesn't seem to have any charisma.

I think they are trying to avoid Atomic Heart and be the only big game ish?(unless March is also packed with releases) so they can have that attention in June/July for summer. I get the frustration but even during a retro expo Kick showed off the box art for SS2EE and SSREMAKE with March firmly in there. Pretty sure it’s happening I don’t think they can afford another push back on release. They are just cleaning up and trying to make it as bug and jank free as possible given the state of releases the last few years and this year being half baked.

As a South African who grew up playing the first 2 games, making Diego with an SA accent seems... motivated. Especially since the plot and details are identical to the original, besides graphics and playability. Great for SA representation. Not so great for the character or consistency.

The pixelation is a stylistic choice to both not make the lighting engine set your PC on fire and to lower the amount of development time needed to touch up the graphics. If you need hyper realistic graphics to be immersed, that's pretty childish.

As someone who loved the original and was interested in the remake, just watching gameplay gives me sensory overload. All the bright neon colors, everything being just so ever slightly pixelated, combined with other effects like sparqbeam's lightning, its all overwhelming and during heavy combat I know it'll make me sick in actual gameplay. And I've never really been motion sick from video games or been visually overwhelmed, so yeah I'm not a fan either. And I don't think its childish at all to dislike the aesthetic choice or want the option to turn it off. It's childish to say "Just deal with it" especially with people who might have health issues or actual disabilities. The original never bothered me at all, nor have any other looking glass or shock games, so they clearly did do something wrong here visually
