So one of the variables cancel in both equations, example : 6x + 6y=23 3x+13y= 56 You want to multiply the bottom equation by -2, so the "3x" becomes -6,and from there you will add the top equation and bottom equation, and when you do that the x variables cancel out, Leaving you with the ys to deal with alone.

In this video noticed how he multiplied the second equation by -3? so the 1c turns to -3c
