Undercurrents sweep the heart All but covered in deep wounds of sorrow A deep longing burns within Lies in hiding - come what may - Hush hush In the twilight you can see beautiful freedom moving closer As the night sky drowns The day torn by words No one can say - Hush hush The darkest winter, waits for the sun To ease away the longest nights - with light The darkest winter, waits for spring To warm our embraces again Darkness of winter closing in Forcing every single breath they take With growing hope for brighter days The ice and shadows will give way - Hush hush The darkest winter, waits for the sun To ease away the longest nights - with light The darkest winter, waits for spring To warm our embraces again She rises to the sky Embracing her own power And along the way Finding a sense of peace The darkest winter, waits for the sun To ease away the longest nights - with light The darkest winter, waits for spring To warm our embraces again

As a German, watching this makes me jealous of Iceland. Germany sends bland pop music year after year while Iceland is forming an outstanding identity at Eurovision. Just think about what they send from 2019 until today, from Hatari to this, what a musical range! Iceland is truely testing the limits of music while still keeping the quality up and I am so here for it! Stay interesting, stay awesome. If Iceland makes it to the final, they will have my vote. Love and greetings from Germany

For everyone asking about the meaning: One of the performers, Sigga Ey, posted this on another video: Thank you all for your kind words and support, it means the world to us. I know that a lot of you don’t speak Icelandic and can’t understand what the lyrics are about, so I’ll put in this description from the songwriter During the winter months in Iceland we loose alot of daylight. Days get darker and longer and in the darkest winter months we only get sunlight a small part of the day. But from around December 20th the sun starts to come earlier and set later each day. We have the saying for this period for the sun as being "með hækkandi sól" that could translate to "with the sun getting higher each day". Originally it was written as a point of view from a 18th or 19th century icelandic woman who was in 'Vistarband'. The Icelandic vistarband was a requirement that all landless people be employed on a farm. Poor people did not really have any control of their lives and were forced to work for others and live under their rule. But the lyrics can also be related to anyone in many and all sorts of situations. Seeing some hope with the sun getting higher and days getting warmer. ✌🏻

Bravo Iceland. Beautiful, magical song sung by beautiful women. In my opinion, this is the best song of Eurovision 2022. Greetings from Poland.

This is so beautiful and incredible, their voices are so in sync and harmonized it sounds like one perfectly melded unit, sounds unreal and magical and soothing. There's a surprising intensity at the end that makes me emotional. I love this with my whole heart and am wishing them so much luck!!!

This probably wont get many votes from the usual noiseloving Eurovision audience, but it's a song I'll be listening to long after the 2022 final is over! Hope to hear much more from the 3 sisters as a musical trio in the future.

I really hope they qualify, they really deserve it! This is so delicate and folksy, like the intricate patterns of a snowflake under a microscope. Lovely! All the best from your host 🇮🇹❤️

If this song was in eurovision before 2010, I'm pretty sure it would win. Ah I wish more people would just enjoy the beauty of the song without having to make it 'modern'

Very nice that they sing together in their beautiful language! Their voices fit wonderfully together with their quitars. The song is so melodic, mystical and atmospheric, as the country itself, Iceland. Really underated. Greetings from Greece!

It's a strong year. I have already changed my Top5 five times: 1. Portugal, the only one that remains untouched, absolutely unusual, ethereal, magical, cozy, tribal, emotional... 2. Switzerland 3. Iceland (deserves more love!)💟 4. Montenegro. 5. My country, Sweden.🙈❣

@ Systur: This song became my favorite song. And I'm so glad it's sung in Icelandic. It is a beautiful and soft language and of course it is sung by you fantastically soft. With some effort I was able to translate the content of your text. "With the rising sun" is a very nice theme. The longing of the northerners for more sun and warmth after a long winter. Even if you don't understand the lyrics, you feel the warmth in your song, that's the magic of music. Exactly because of songs like yours I love the ESC. Thank you Systur, thank you Iceland. Greetings from Munich

This is a wonderful song. All 4 musicians on stage are truly talented and present this song beautifully. No need for gimmicks, or distracting dancers, just mesmerising music that is so in tune with Iceland's stunningly beautiful landscapes. I really hope it gets the credit it deserves at Eurovision. Well done to our Icelandic friends, from the UK.
