From what I can understand, the song seems to talk about being trapped in enjoying the praise and admiration you get from others. It's so addicting that you keep doing the things that you get praise for even if it's killing you on the inside. Who the hell cares about whether that's love or not? It still feels great being praised for your work. But then the person realizes what it's doing to them and takes steps to escape from this hell. They seem to succeed, only to fall back into old habits that lead them back down to hell. This is the loop that's described in the song. And the backrooms, which indeed could be a reference to the liminal horror of the Backrooms considering the constant use of the color yellow, could also just be talking about the true self that is backstage or behind the scenes of their perfect mask. Edit: I forgot to add that this also fits really well with Chainsaw Man's themes of desire. Denji's desire for praise from Makima is very fitting.

Why isn't this more way up in the comment section???! Your interpretation is really good. My personal interpretation is that it (might be about) imposter syndrome which kinda fits with the theme of wanting to be praised despite it killing you inside as you mentioned.

@@purebottle it really is exactly that! heres a copy-paste as i cant explain it better, from trickles english cover; "In the Back Room tackles identity and is inspired by syudou's (the writer of this song) childhood obsession with pop star Kenshi Yonezu, and how he felt he lost his own musical identity by trying to be Kenshi instead of himself." i personally love both artists but i can see how that inner turmoil both eats at an artists soul, while also fueling bangers like this one hehe

All i thought was the backrooms haha... What is wrong with me?
The fact Syudou was able to make a song that fit both the theme of the backrooms and for CSM in the eternity devil arc, and have both fit PERFECTLY in their own respective ways is nothing less than incredible. Catchy song as well, and the fact it's used for one of my favorite manga's adaptations of all time as well as one of my favorite concepts of all time being The Backrooms, I'm in love. Amazing work to everyone involved!

It's really about his musical life and his admiration for Hachi/Yonezu Kenshi, but yeah, he managed to make it about the backrooms and Chainsaw Man at the same time as well.

What is "The backrooms"? Trying to find it rn
@nightrunner823mcpro22 жыл бұрын
@@syressx9098 It's a creepypasta (basically just scary ideas people have, like stories or legends that aren't real) and it's about an endless office space based off a photo from somewhere that makes it look endless. It's hard to explain but all you need to know is it's basically an endless space of walls and limitations spaces that you enter by "clipping" through reality (not sure if that was in the original post or not)

1:39 I find this moment pretty funny with not only the guy on the right getting all the figures in wrong shapes but also the protag just "cheating" in figures of the wrong shape just to immediately fill in the space. As well as I love the moment on 2:30 when he puts on a new face and the thing starts chasing him, but instead of being scared or anything, he just laughs at it while running away. Somehow it just gives him so much character.

I can't agree more. I don't know who this guy is or whats his story but his mannerisms make me love him sm
The fact the song is called in the backroom, and the episode was about the eternity devil, and the backrooms are essentially an infinite loop makes me praise the producers, and artist for making this song, and choosing it for the right moment
@ctrlaltrepeat245 Жыл бұрын
The name isn't a reference to the backrooms. Im not certain, but the song is about an identity crisis Syudou went through when trying to make his music more like Kenshi Yonezu's.

The line at 2:52, followed by him standing in the hole in the wall too, reminded me of how Denji jumped out of the wall to fight the devil when everyone else wanted to sacrifice him. Even if it’s not the meaning of the song, they blended the music video really well!!
