Freshly back from our trip to LA hanging with the main Uncle himself, Nigel Ng ‪@mrnigelng‬ , we dive right into reacting to a reaction. ‪@augusttheduck‬ looks at an interview with Jack from Cooking With Jack. It shows a different side of him and it's not a pretty side. It makes the guilt of being harsh critics of his cooking ease A LOT!

Having a strict parent like Jack has to be an absolute nightmare. I'm imagining him forcing his children to eat raw chicken and his aunts party cheese salad, or to go hungry. He's incapable of realizing when he's messed up a dish, so I know he wouldn't take no for an answer on people eating his food.

I have to correct one thing you said, B. You said bacteria need oxygen to survive. SOME bacteria need oxygen to survive and some actually thrive in oxygen deprived environments. A big one is botulinum. Botulinum can’t actually live in environments with oxygen it. Hence why badly canned foods are a terrific place for botulinum to thrive.

Yeah, anaerobic bacteria exists. E. coli and listeria are other examples. They’re commonly found in gut flora (poop hole fecal matter making places). ETA: we’re symbiotic organisms with a lot of common bacteria; a bacterial infection is when it’s introduced to the wrong place ((ie don’t eat poo). I am aware that’s an oversimplified explanation.

Marie Antoinette actually said, "Let them eat Brioche". Bakers in France at the time threw out Brioche at a certain time in the afternoon to keep margins high and wasted a tonne of product. She was posing a simple solution to the starving problem. It wasn't on the gallows and she was laughed at for even suggesting it.

Something interesting about the restaurant that I work at. The sales are actually up by a lot. Last year we were doing $8k in sales a day, just last week we were doing $20k in sales. The reason for that is mainly due to what seems like a massive surge in popularity of delivery apps. Anyone else in the food industry experience something similar?

Dynamic pricing should be illegal. It’s companies conceding to being scalpers. Ticketmaster doing it has essentially priced most people out of concerts. I would go to more that I’ve been interested recently if the dynamic pricing makes it not economically worthwhile. Wendy’s doing dynamic pricing means i will go even less than I already do. It’s usually a last minute thing when life is busy. It isn’t THAT busy to pay inflated, price gouging tactics. Price gouging is never morally acceptable.

Thanks gents for a fun podcast as usual! An interesting rumor was that Burger King and McDonald's was also going to start the "dynamic pricing" as well, but decided to hold off saying anything when Wendy's came out and said something. Now Burger King and McDonald's said they had thought about experimenting with it, but were unsure. Also, keep in mind, Wendt's is actually th 2nd most successful fast food place in the country. Hard to believe, but they are. Based on sales, not how many there are. Also, I still like "Jaques the tip"

I get that a lot of creators, like James Makinson always advocate for not harassing or more specifically shaming people like Jack, or especially Kay, but in the case of Jack, I’m actually the opposite. Do shame him. Shout it to the world from the top of the mountains. Even ignoring all abuse controversy and whatnot he’s literally dangerous. If someone were to replicate his videos and results, he could straight up kill someone. Most healthy adults are probably in for a bad case of E. Coli or Salmonella at worst, but not everyone is a healthy adult. It’s just another version of something like people peddling scam products like health supplements that just make people sick.

I’m a family therapist, working in the highest level of adolescent treatment. The initial dynamic of co-parents having different, even misaligned limits, and then pushing each other to be either be more strict or more permissive is completely typical. It’s also typical for a teen boy going through a separation with two parents who are not good at co-parenting to have anger issues. What’s not typical is physically assaulting your kid, even in the context of defending your wife. Though I can understand Jack’s anger, he’s the adult and needs to be more skillful.

thank you for stating you could understand Jack's anger in that moment. i'm NOT defending choking his own kid, but someone being physically aggressive with your wife also is FAR from ok and shouldnt be overlooked. that being said, choking your own son until his nose starts to bleed and then half bragging about it like that makes you tough shows how little of a man he really is.

A lot of wealthy individuals have donated so much money to nonprofits that they literally become the namesake. For example, NYU Langone Health is named after billionaire Ken Langone or John Hopkins University named after the wealthy Quaker John Hopkins. It seems like throughout history, legacy endures through money and named spaces.

And yo ive NEVER met a parent who's like, "im a great parent" no one says that. Everyone who's a decent parent is very aware they've made mistakes because everyone does.

Jack saying that he "hammered his kid into shape"... knowing how narcissistic Jack is, the implication of that statement is disturbing.

Someone has to stand up for Frenchy here and remind Chef Brian that friends don't make friends watch Jack. As far as Wendys... they backed off it two.days later and said they wouldn't do it after all, with the backlash they received from this.

Imagine ordering your baconader and taking an extra 30 seconds so the AI starts raising prices faster than you can order. And what else? Well I was gonna order fries but they jumped from 2.99 to 5.99 Ok sir and since you aren't ordering anything else your Baconader with nothing else will be 32.57... prices surged, sorry.

Both Jack and Kay mistreat/absue their children. Thing is, Kay doesn’t know about it and is a sweet little lady, and Lee is insane / brave enough to do the “tassste test”, AS YOU CAN SEE
