It probably would have been ideal in a WW1 type of battlefield where it would have to deal with pillboxes and soldiers in trenches. Unfortunately by the late 1930's such a battlefield wasn't going to happen anymore and tanks had to be primarily designed to deal with other tanks first and foremost.

When you build a special combination of unreliable, slow, thinly armored, and shot traps everywhere. Couple all that with the NKVD behind you ready to shoot you down, and it's just so many ways to die for the Rodina.

Two prototypes of the spg version were built on the T-35 chassis , the SU-14 (scrapped in 1960 open version ) & SU-14-2 who's displayed at Kubinka together with the only remaining complete T-35 today . I wonder how the smaller Medium but also multi-turreted T-28 fared against German armor , i guess equally as bad ...

Good stuff, Thank You. Its kind of funny that everybody was going for "Bigger is Better" but it was the massive numbers of American medium tanks that overwhelmed the advisories. Not saying the Sherman was a superior tank; just simple, easy to build, fast to get off the production line and that meant vast numbers could be built then shipped to Europe and the Pacific. Wouldn't have wanted to serve in a "Ronson" but God bless all that did. True heroes.
@Stripedbottom

The main gripe with these - like most heavy tanks until late war - was not the thin armor, weak armament, awkward general arrangement and amazingly low cost efficiency, but their general inability to get from A to B with any reliability even under peaceful conditions, let alone on the battlefield. In the case of the T-35 though, those two 45mm tank guns and the 76.2mm howitzer can really hurt the germans, given chance. Therefore, as a Soviet commander I wouldn't even have tried to fight them as tanks; I would have had 48 T-35-sized holes dug at crossroads and other strategic points, broadside-on to the expected enemy advance. If each one could have delayed the german spearheads for even a couple of hours on the average, that would have been a full 4 days lost to the Wehrmacht, which in June/July 1941 would have been a massive advantage. Leave the actual tank-fighting to the T-26s and BT-7s, in support of the static T-35s. Then again, as a Soviet commander I would have been shot for such a defeatist move, LOL

It's a fun tank to play in War Thunder RB. Very unpractical, and it often gets ammo racked or bombed, but when it works out it's cool being this huge, lumbering battleship of death. Same with the German Neubaufahrzeug. Also, had no idea that the Germans actually used one as a command vehicle.

After Italy capitulated to the Allies in World War II many italian Airmen continued to usetheir airplanes on the axis side. The irony of his sponsorship is very real. In-game, the T-35 is an incredible tank for its tier (4). It's very fast and has a top gun that can lay down extremely accurate, long range fire that can easily out-DPS most opponents. It still has terrible armor and poor camouflage values, but it's a tremendous sniper that a good player can use to dominate the battlefield with.
