Simply put: I Musici, in the Italian Baroque repertoire, especially in Vivaldi, to this day are unsurpassed! Pina Carmirelli, the finest violin interpreter of this repertoire in the entire world!

Utterly magnificent in every way. It is rare that the word flawless can truthfully be used of a musical performance, but I have yet to encounter another performance to which the word can more appropriately be applied. Trovo questa interpretazione a dir poco stupenda. A differenza dei "miao miao" che si sentono oggi freddi come il ghiaccio, qui sembra di essere a Venezia ....

I Musici wonderful They played in The Sydney Opera House in the early 1970's and Pina was the soloist - wonderful.

It's less what instruments are used and more how they are used. Modern instruments can be heavy and thick or flexible and dramatic. Original instruments can be thin and squeaky or light and clear. That said, I love these I Musici performances. The spirit of the music shines through.

Albinoni reminds me a lot of Handel and Telemann. I think he was a great composer, with a great harmonic and melodic sense, lively continuous bass and use of counterpoint. I like Albinoni much more than the monotonous, homophonic and repetitive Vivaldi.
