you should take gun drones on fireblade they bring 6 more shots to the table and you can fish for critical wounds for -4 ap with a strat

I don't think you need the marker drone? Breachers already have the markerlight keyword and as they have assault weapons they can mark after advancing anyway.

@@StrikingScorpion82 Im new to tau and trying to get my head around all the keywords is a mission! I may have to get a fireblade im very impressed by how they let the breachers punch up and take out the marines like that with the extra shots.

I usually run guardian and gun drone for the extra shots? Is this good or is it better to take a shield drone?

I am contemplating on the Fireblades' effectiveness.. I see many competitive lists running 2... But if you have 100 points available, wouldn't it be better to take an extra unit of breachers instead?? Same number of shots, more wounds, no Assassination, plus an extra unit available to do its thing... Am I missing something??

They provide 10 extra shots to the unit and you can run 3 fire blades too for 3 breachers teams and they’re very very good. They take the unit from very good to extremely good, the fire power is awesome and if you use coordinated assault with say another breacher team, it’s now S6 AP2 D1 profile, and that’s 60 shots instead of 40 and if guided by stealth suits re rolling 1s to hit and wound….

Fireblade adds 19 shots. +1 per breacher for 10. Fireblade himself gets 3 shots and his 2 gun drones get 6 more shots. you double your firepower for half the points of a breacher unit.

This is the age old question of should you take a character? I like playing with fireblades, but you have a good point about them. I also try to avoid taking units that if I lose them I lose the game if that makes sense. One of the benefits of using a character is you can take enhancements. So I guess my question for you is how are you going to play the breachers. With a fireblade they act like a scalpel, but without one they’re just a good unit that if you lose then you’re out 100 points. I personally feel as though if I am going to take a fireblade then I need to put them in a devilfish, but if I am foot slogging then I would probably leave the blade. So to answer your question. It depends on how you want to play. Try different strategies and tactics and find what works for you. What works for me or others may not work for you, but you might find that you’ll never leave home with a fireblade

They are indeed very good. I used them recently to bring down a Hive Tryrant. He moved on to an objective and I counterpunched 😃
